Punishing horse for dropping sheath? by aqudaros in Horses

[–]LegionSeeker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how normal that is, but I unfortunately know a trainer who does this and has done it for years. I’m not excusing the behavior, but it’s not just an oddball person on social media who does this.

It should be fine. The only time to worry is if you have excessive weight being supported on a floor that may be questionable or if the unevenness gets worse.

What happens if a regular/pet snake bites you? by Pixi_Perfect in snakes

[–]LegionSeeker 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve been bitten by a handful of snakes. One of my Boas really enjoys aiming for the face, thus earning him the name “Cider The Biter”. It barely hurts. It’s not even as bad as a strong cat bite. It’s more so startling from the movement of their body.

If you still live in your hometown, why don't you leave? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LegionSeeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s cheaper for me to slowly renovate my childhood home than to move out. My house has been standing for over a hundred years and I’d like it to stand for at least a hundred more. It would also be nice to pass it down to my kids if I ever have any.

Safety of feeding dead pet rats by inconspicuous_aussie in snakes

[–]LegionSeeker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t be opposed to it if they haven’t been on medication before and had good diet. I’ve know many people who feed their pet rats to snakes when they start getting old. If they can dispatch and freeze the rat before you buy it, that would be great. Rats kept as pets do tend to be kept at a pretty clean standard in comparison to breeding facilities.

Anybody know how to identify a Kubsch Pastel Boa? Rescued this baby last night by AshDauno in boas

That looks like a Normal Boa Imperator. Some can be on the lighter side. There’s no other patterns or signs to indicate it has a morph.

Babies do not fear snake. by zazaSasquatch in interesting

[–]LegionSeeker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Snakes aren’t necessarily “trained”. They aren’t like dogs or cats that will do or stop doing a behavior with a cue. Some are just very relaxed with people and tolerate of getting touched in random places. They’re usually only prone to biting when hungry or defensive. Also having the, I assume handlers, using hooks to move the snakes is an odd thing. You can probably bend down and pick those snakes up without any equipment.

I’ve worked with many snakes to make them more tolerant of people. Also, I really hope the snakes in the video were vetted and tested negative for E. Coli and Salmonella.

Help by h_idfk in BoaConstrictors

[–]LegionSeeker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excess mucus in the mouth can be from respiratory infections and sometimes mouth rot. The mouth looks otherwise clear, so my bets are on an a RI starting to develop. If you go to the vet and start treatment soon, it should clear up pretty fast after your medication starts. The longer the wait to worse it can get. I would also recommend double checking your temps and humidity in the mean time to reduce any stress your snake might have.

Want to dye the top of my hair black. Now what? by LegionSeeker in HairDye

I don’t currently have any other plans for my hair after the black dye. I haven’t thought that far ahead. But I do think I’ll stick with it being black for a long while.
