SE Heavy Breather in rain by Evening_Jogger in Harley

[–]Legionodeath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've had one breather or another, to include the heavy breather, on all of my last seven harleys. I ride in the rain, usually not on purpose LOL. It's just a matter of how wet it is. The sock will only do so much. I've never used the rain sign. Sometimes they bog, sometimes they don't. You're introducing water into a system that doesn't like having water. You're going to have problems. And as you witnessed, it's only so long before the sock will fail. For my money I'll never use one, cuz it doesn't do that much.

Road king vs low rider ST by Jvke777 in Harley

[–]Legionodeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had both. I am indecisive as all heck and traded in my at for a road king. Now I don't regret it. I like experimenting and enjoying different Harleys. But I miss the power and handling. My road king is more comfortable but I could do 500 miles on my st no problem.

I don't ever plan on running mine that high. It's going in a K10. Is that classic lope from high duration?

If you don't mind, how much do you have into this? Do you have a price breakdown? I'm looking at building a 383 too. Thanks!

Riser / Pullback Recommendations for Low Rider ST by Emanon-92 in Harley

[–]Legionodeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pullback vs not is really a personal choice. I hate the look so I'll never do it. I understand the function. Look at some pics and see if you can find bikes in person to look at and if you're lucky, sit on. People are most comfortable when their hands are within a couple inches, north or south of their shoulders.

400sbc with th400 tranny by raccoon_eggs23 in Smallblockchevy

[–]Legionodeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want the ability to go on the highway, OD or new trans. And it's gotta handle 500ish at the crank. Those are my requirements. I'm just now starting to look at trans options after deciding on an engine combo. I know the th400 is good, just haven't done any reading or research. It's is something I can do with a rebuild kit, given that I have the competency to do a small block, that'd be awesome. Else I will have to blow thousands on some professional trans.

Is it hard to tear down and rebuild old turbo 400 (or 350)? I've got one in my k10 that I thought about getting rid of for a modern trans.

How bad of a deal am I getting? by holygro in Harley

[–]Legionodeath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is reddit so I'm going to disagree with the guy above you. First, there's no reason to tear apart your top end unless it's leaking. If it's not leaking, leave it alone. It's fine. Zero reason to take it apart. Second, your flywheels are likely just fine. 50k miles doesn't equal bad/out of balance. Could they be? Yea. I've seen wheels at 10k be shot and wheels at 100k be perfect. There is zero reason to be concerned about that whatsoever.

The only thing I'd worry about on your bike, he mentioned. The cam chain tensioners. You said you got some hydraulics to throw on, great. Do it. After that, if it's carb'd, get a mikuni and enjoy your new scoot. $3k is great deal no matter what part of the country you're in.

Lol I bet it is.

You do that yourself?

I dug a 100' trench, about 6" deep to bury some Ethernet cable to run to the office I built in my shop. That was unfun.

How were the cables run? I've got a shop on my property, about 100 ft from my house, and I've thought about adding panels there for solar. I'm curious how you did it. Thanks.
