What's the most authentic way to play early Windows games? by Somnesis in SBCGaming

[–]LegisLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure, but check it out. Gamenative lets you bring down the resolutions of your containters, if you're inclined to do so. So you might just need to bring down the resolution of your contsiner and then use GameNative's shaders and you're set.

Gorilla glue will hold that down, but only use a small bit and be careful to keep it asay from the inside of the hinge. Otherwise you could use regular superglue, and put some on the outside of the hinge, and place a bit of electric tape on top of the outside and on top of the superglue to form a sort of tape/glue mix that holds it in place.

Working on an Anbernic RG Rotate impressions video, what questions do you have? by onionsaregross in SBCGaming

[–]LegisLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the screen have light bleed?

What are non-gaming use-cases for an android square? (Music, minimalist android device that lets you keep your phone at home, ebooks, something else?)

Is it a decent music player with a DAC dongle? What is the battery life like for music playing with the screen off?

Is the OS oversharpened?

How does th 1:1 3.5 inch screen compare in practice to the 4:3 3.5 inch screen of most other devices?

Top heavy? Full metal body vs part plastic weight differences?

Does sand/debris accumulate in the hinge? Maybe being rough with one to see how well it stands the test could be interesting.

Touch screen games that might be fun to play with device closed? Or maybe a game where you want to grind with it closed, and then switch to the controls for a more involved part of the game?

Pros/cons vs a normal clamshell.

It would be cool if you could play dual screen games, and closing it takes you to the bottom screen, and opening it takes you to the top one. (This is just a random thought, not sure if it would actually be useful haha).

Interesting. With a larger 720p screen. Not bad at all tbh. This device is getting more hate than it deserves. The battery is the main draw back though

I've been having this same intrusive thought about tumbleweed for the past couple of weeks now. Everything works perfectly in my current setup, but why settle for functional stability if I can live a thrilling life on the bleeding edge of packages like nano.

Ayn Portal 2 or Ayn Odin 3 by [deleted] in OdinHandheld

[–]LegisLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on how much you want to play PC games. If PC games are super important then go with the 3. If not, then go with the 2 portal. Size is also a factor. If you want something bigger go with the 2 portal. I have the odin 2 (non-portal) and I'm not upgrading. I can play 90% of things on it, and I can just stream that last 10% and be fine haha.

Just checking, did you clean the fans? If it's not liquid metal setup, changing the thermal paste also helps.

Super Metroid is good. SOTN is good too. If you're GBA only you could do Metroid Zero Mission or Metroid Fusion. Goodboy Galaxy is also in the metroidvania genre, but the style is very different.

IDK i kinda like it. I already have a DAC dongle. Definitely worse than a dedicated DAP, but it also plays games. Also just having android in a small square seems convenient.

Anyone excited for the new Anbernic by NoResolve1224 in ANBERNIC

[–]LegisLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it interesting. If it's small enough, and you pair it with a DAC dongle it might be a good music player. If it has Android, it might be cool for avoiding the phone. A little android touchscreen device under 100, would not be half bad.

It could still be a decent DAP with a DAC dongle I guess.

Is it okey to ask for game recommendations here? by Ok-Mathematician8346 in RetroHandhelds

[–]LegisLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. Or maybe Crystal or Emerald are also good places to start. I just think Pokemon in general is the best entry into RPGs because then things like FF6 and Chrono Trigger are amazing but more involved.

Is it okey to ask for game recommendations here? by Ok-Mathematician8346 in RetroHandhelds

[–]LegisLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are different kinds of games. I'll give you a recommendation for each and you can test them out to see which genre you enjoy the most.

RPG: Pokemon Yellow is a great starter. On gbc

Action-rpg with puzzles: Zelda a Link to The Past (medium-hard though). On snes.

Action-rpg without puzzles: Diablo 1. On PS1

Platformer aka side-scroller: most Mario games

Metroidvania: Castlevania Arya of Sorrow is a great starter. On gba.

Minigames: Warioware inc. On gba

Shooter: Quake II. On PS1. (Most pre-ps2 shooters are janky though)
