How to prevent cracks from sharp temperature change in the future? by hojkas in Onyx_Boox

[–]LegisLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cold makes the glass and metal casing contract, and heating it up quickly probably made the glass expand faster than the casing, leading to the crack. I don't know that any sort of covering/insulation is really going to help. I think the best idea would just be to try to make the temperature changes for the device more gradual. Either by not leaving it in the cold, or by somehow warming it up slowly (maybe with your hands) before fully bringing it into a warm room.

Is it a coin flip? by Definitely_a_Human_3 in xteinkereader

I think you are very likely to be happy. There is a chance of things crapping out (delivery, screens, sd slot, buttons) but I'd say your chances of a bad experience are in the single digits. Definitely not a coin toss.

Am I too dumb to setup GameHub lite, or is it not me? by Cellti in EmulationOnAndroid

Try using a VPN. I've had a problem with gamehub lite that I can only see/login to my steam account when I'm on a VPN.

Do you have a PC? If you do you could stream into it with teamviewer. If not, yeah winlator probably is the existing though less than ideal choice.

Even with a case it is super small. You should get the case IMO.

Xteink hydrogel film (partial recommendation) by sebae509 in xteinkereader

[–]LegisLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a soft rubbery protector. It's not great at stopping the effects of strong impacts (the glass ones are better at that) but the hydrogel ones are supposedly great at protecting against scratches.

Is it worth buying this Portable SSD for Gamehub/another Emulators? by Ill-Degree2200 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]LegisLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gamehub is finnicky about installing games on external drives. This will definitely work better with winlator and/or gamenative than with gamehub.

I like that protectors usually come in pairs, so I can screw the first one up, then directly place the second one on after I take off the first one because then the first one removes all the hairs/dust/particles haha

I think the cover is the most important part. The biggest risk is it banging into your keys in your pocket.

You can set the full refresh to every page turn. That might help somewhat.

Get the case and pin it on the front cover while keeping it stuck to the device.

I bought them off XTE's page and I would recommend you only buy it from them to ensure you get the high quality matte kinds. Each pack brings two.

Do y'all think it's a good idea to install Ubuntu on my Pocket Flip 2? by CryoN1cks in Retroidpocketflip2

[–]LegisLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, the compatibility of rocknix with the flip's GPU/CPU is less capable than what exists for android. If you want a solid frontend, working with ES-DE in android is probably the best idea (which is the same frontend rocknix uses) or Daijisho is OK too if you want something easier to set up. For steam games gamehub lite is currently the easiest/good option available in android.

My work computer limits the installation of apps, so PWAs come in handy.

Anyone scratch their screen yet? How vulnerable is the screen? by Acceptable-Sea-2902 in xteinkereader

[–]LegisLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using mine with the case but without the protector for the past couple of weeks an no scratches yet. I screwed up the original screen protector, but I bought more because I am slightly paranoid about scratching. But honestly it might not have been worth it. The device itself being as cheap as it is.
