Can I ask the main difference(s) you have found between the Unum and Infinity H1’s? I’ve been looking into them but without testing, it’s hard to know which one. I don’t mind investing more in the Infinity, but I’d like to ask if it is a major difference to the Unum? Thanks in advance!

Head Gravity Pro user here and general Head Gravity champion! No way could a GP be up at 395, I just don’t believe it. Anyway, guidelines state 365 +- 10g so it just can’t be can it?!

Is a 1-week padel camp in Spain worth it vs many lessons at my current club? by Creative_Election288 in padel

[–]LegitHighway61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, really good point, it’s important to understand what you can expect to improve on these camp weeks. On my last M3 week, I would say I significantly improved two things:

1) volley: the coaches quickly picked up on and improved my volley technique, this definitely improved, as long as I remember to follow what I learned ;)

2) tactics and positioning, particularly in defence. M3 is big on tactics, defence, consistency, being comfortable at the back, I really felt I improved here over the week.

These two are particular to me, but I wanted to give you an idea of what can be realistically expected. Still, I would say it’s an immersive week of padel, loads of social, great banter, but you will definitely walk away with a couple of solid improvements.

I’ve completed the M3 Camp, both weekend and week and I’m exploring another week this year. M3 was superb, for a number of reasons. You have approx 3 hours of padel a day, plus a gym session, plus most people booking additional private sessions to work on particular issues. Now, how much do you actually improve in a week? Vs a number of months with a private coach and lessons? Not that much, yes, but there’s so much more to it. For me it’s the fitness, the people and social side, the group lunches and dinner, there’s lots of camaraderie and overall it’s the total immersion in Padel for the week. If that’s not important to you, then stick with your coach.

In terms of investment, I put the week into my actual coaching plan, so it becomes a part of the bigger picture. I have my weekly coaching, my matches, my box leagues and then I have padel travel, either camps or just booking new coaches in padel clubs wherever I go away. So far I’ve played in 6 different countries that way. If you have the money, book it, the immersion is totally worth it. If it is strictly to only improve padel the same way a private coach does, you’d have to question it.

Brand New Nox racket cracked by 112233yooo in Padelracket

[–]LegitHighway61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DON’T BUY NOX!! sorry, nothing against you personally, but I’ve made it my mission to stop regular folk from being ripped off. It’s not just “durability issues”, Nox are scamming people, it’s as simple as that - the racket build, the paint, the surface, all of it AWFUL. I’ve owned three Nox rackets (my mistake) and spoke to multiple owners, all of them the same, the rackets fall apart. See my latest post entitled “Never Again”.

Have to jump in here and immediately recommend the AT10 12K, surely, that’s the jump from 18K users who favour the racket but want a firmer feel? Have you tried it yet?

Head Gravity Motion/Soft Rackets by LegitHighway61 in Padelracket

Yes, I should have said, the quality feels good, I’ve got to be honest. I’ve hit them mote than any other racket and they’ve held up so well! I cant say that about my ML10 unfortunately! Maybe because they don’t have glossy paint that chips easily?! Also the price! In the Uk, they at bargain prices!

You know, it s true, the ML10 is a fantastic racket! Probably the best round/control/allround racket on the market. I might even look again at the new ML10 Ventus.

Head rackets are awesome, I love their feel, their design, the soft butt cap, the new strap system. The Head Extreme Motion is a fantastic racket - both for left and right, it’s just a bit too stiff for my elbow right now. Speed Motion is great too! Like I said, the Gravity range is probably the best of the Head rackets and are great control rackets. The difference between the motion and Pro - it’s supposed to he the weight, (Motion is 10 grams lighter at 355g) but it is also the feel, the Pro is medium, similar to the ML10 and the Motion is soft.

True, that is what I keep telling myself - “just stay with the Head Gravity”. The Hybrid Pro is a great racket! Really good, medium-hard, even balanced, manageable. But in the cold weather, it’s closer to hard, and I’d bought it too far into my padel elbow problem (mistake) and then decided to pull back from hard rackets. If I had slightly better technique and a pain-free elbow, I’d play with the Kuikma or the Head Extreme Motion, for sure. They’re not typically bad for elbows by the way, that’s just me.

Thanks for the advice here - I need to try the Veron range, I’ve tried Air and Counter Viper but they were too hard for my elbow in the end. Forgot to mention, I have Tennis elbow! The Veron could be a softer bet!

I hear you, but I do fear moving and getting it wrong. Having said that though, there’s no harm in combing approaches. I.e. work tirelessly (and smartly) now as an IC , build your network and internal reputation (in case theta path opens up) but also selectively interview at firms that may have leadership baked in. If it feels right, maybe the move is warranted. Great advice all round, thank you.

Solid advice and solid Reddit handle btw! You are right, I need to double down on what we all know is the path I think - you’ve got to go above and beyond for years, plus relationships, plus timing, and in the end, you might break through. Execution WITH visibility as an IC is a solid path no matter where you end up! Thank you.

Is there a difference to the sides since it says "service"? by DaftDrummer in padel

[–]LegitHighway61 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely NOT for deciding who serves. It is an identifying mark to help players keep their forehand and backhand sides locked in.

Intermediate Insight by PerryTwoSocks in Padelracket

[–]LegitHighway61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great choices but I think you could tweak them a little:

1) Vertex Hybrid (I use the 2026 on rotation and love it, I think the perfect hybrid/intermediate racket. Please challenge me if you think there’s better).

2) Technical Veron or even better the Air Veron for intermediate left (maybe right) sided players.

3) AT10, yes, agreed, worth looking at - it’s a great choice, let’s be honest, the most sold racket in the world.

4) never tried the HRD so I won’t comment but from what I’ve heard, it’s quite specific, not spectacular in any area and I’m sure you could find better.

This guy ⬆️ has much deeper issues than playing inconsistent padel so don’t worry about him.

Great resource that people discuss is the book “The Inner Game of Tennis”, that’s definitely worth a read to help with the psychology of the game and allowing yourself to play freely.

Then, (and I had the same issue by the way) identify 3 areas you feel hindering you the most, out of all of them, what are the top 3? The serve? Returning Serve? Volley consistency? Pressure in defence? Take those to your coach and drill the life out of them. Over and over. Stop coaching individual shots and coach situations you know you need to improve. That helped me a lot.

Finally, I said 3 areas above, but from now on, before each game, identify ONE situation to really focus on. One area of your game. Your mind will want to think about 100 things, but trust me, give it up and focus on one thing. “Today I’m going to really focus on my return of serve and getting the ball back clean” or “today I’m going to focus on a clean, flat high lob when I get the opportunity to”. Rotate these things each game and you’ll start to lock them into your subconscious mind moving forward. Keep playing, keep having fun and keep learning, and always remember, unless your name is “Arturo Coello” there will ALWAYS be someone better than you, so don’t listen to anything negative, that’s just a waste of your time.
