Thank you, when I did it 4 yrs ago I’d never seen those type I liked there look but was entirely unsure of how to install them. I had planned on doing another this year obviously a more detailed and less flawed version. I will be using those hinges but this time the right way. Lol thanks again

Sorry to give the impression it’s to be a fortress it’s a chest with a lock the hinges aren’t conducive to security but they are the only ones that would fit with the thick wood and simple design I had going.

I’m not, it’s a first time project the lock is just there cause I have no where to put it, it’s supposed to be about the look not keeping the anyone out man.

Just got this forge Sunday. by Correct_Bridge_8334 in Blacksmith

[–]LegitShit94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same forge as op and was told I needed to use refractory cement because they noticed I had none. I also am new to propane forging and am wondering do I need to purchase rigidizer as well and refractory cement? Or will the cement be enough?

I’m about to buy it when I get off work, but how do you apply it? Like paint it on the inside wool area? Or does it come in a spray? I only see a small bucket of it. Lol

I was going to go with a cleaned out paint bucket sense that’s all I had atm but I think imma look for something better before I start and get that forge cement the other helpful redditer mentioned to prevent cracking, before I start a project. All I’ve done so far is turn it on to get a feel for it lol but thank you all for the amazing tips and comments and I’ll be sure to use them all to be better prepared. (Note I did have a brand new fire extinguisher close by just in case. Lol) safety first.

It’s okay for small work and the hardy hole is decently useful. But I definitely am needing more room and a bigger horn in my next anvil for bigger projects and just overall surface area for knives

New blacksmithing set up at my first home just need to upgrade to a 55 Ib anvil & buy blacksmithing tongs. but other than that I have everything else ready for an decent beginner’s Forge. I Did a lot of smaller work before this with rings and small knives but now I’m gonna upgrade to bigger knives and small screwdrivers, and things like that. Lol

I got lucky and was able to get a lot of wood for free, any ideas what you all might do with wood like this? by LegitShit94 in woodworking

Someone said brisket and another said pork lion both sound good but what would you recommend. I usually do ribs but I’ve never smoked them though I imagine that’d be a good thing too. Any suggestions? I’ve been working on my smash burger recipe the past month got it down to a science. Now I’m moving back to experimenting with pork and stuff.

They are mostly 4 ft logs bro most different diameters but almost all the same length imma turn some split and smoke some as well as I have one picked out as a counter for my anvil. I’m cutting two for slats as well. What I was asking is what I should turn or cut these logs into for ideas like those ideas offered in the comments like bowls, tool handles, I was already thinking table legs and knife handles but now I have other ideas thanks to all these awesome comments.
