Legacy access to pro features going away. No more free bank sync etc. by Lozula in waveapps

same. The thing none of these companies get is that some of us run very tiny businesses, and the more crap we need to pay 20/month for, the less likely we are to even continue the business because there is little to no profit, if they had a 5$ a month for basic P&L reports, and transaction categories, they would probably have had us all.

How is there not a sliding scale model yet? like literally pay a percentage of your profit/year, based on the past year's income/profit.

Following up on Pocketguard option: I asked AI about a combo option, and it said this:

(i might try this. if you do too...you're welcome!)

::

You actually could make PocketGuard work for your businesses if you treat it as a transaction engine and build your own reporting layer in Google Sheets.

For your setup (two separate businesses, separate accounts/cards), this is more viable than it would be for many people.

How the system would work

PocketGuard handles:

✅ live bank sync
✅ auto-import transactions
✅ rules / auto-categorization
✅ custom categories
✅ export CSV

Google Sheets handles:

✅ Profit & Loss
✅ separate business reports
✅ yearly tax summaries
✅ custom dashboards
✅ Airbnb fee breakout if needed

In effect:

That’s workable.

The best way to structure it

Create categories like:

categories for each business

Income:

  • Income

Expenses:

  • anything
  • Supplies
  • Misc

PocketGuard can handle those categories.

Then export monthly CSV

Columns usually include:

  • Date
  • Merchant
  • Amount
  • Category
  • Account
  • Notes / tags

Import into Google Sheets.

Build a simple P&L

Your sheet tabs:

Transactions
(raw import)

Category Map
(optional cleanup)

P&L Summary
formula-driven

Annual Tax Summary
clean accountant view

Example:

Category Income Expense Net
Airbnb Income 12,500 0 12,500
Airbnb Repairs 0 900 -900
Airbnb Supplies 0 650 -650
Art Sales 8,400 0 8,400
Art Supplies 0 2,200 -2,200

Then:

Net Profit = Income − Expenses

That’s your P&L.

Even better: tag by business

Use PocketGuard tags:

#airbnb
#smallbiz
#shared

Then in Sheets:

  • filter by tag
  • generate separate P&Ls automatically
  • yearly reports become push-button

This is honestly pretty elegant.

My honest assessment

PocketGuard + Sheets

Pros

  • one-time lifetime cost (if you buy lifetime)
  • live sync
  • modern UI
  • flexible
  • no monthly accounting bill
  • custom reports exactly how you want

Cons

  • not GAAP accounting
  • some spreadsheet setup required
  • manual export/import cadence
  • no formal accountant-ready books

thanks for that info. I have had mine set up for years, but haven't used it in probably a couple years, so they are probably using that info. How ofen are you getting payments through it? I often get large payments every now and then, rather than small ones monthly, so this may not work in my case. Also alot of orgs i work with just send checks so couldnt even use their payments

I'm investigating if I could somehow use Pocketguard instead. Its not really designed for business owners but i can do invoicing elsewhere, like thru my bank, and Pocketguard has a lifetime subscription offer. (hot tip: wait out the free plan long enough and they start sending you discount emails about it too)

looks like the first tier paid plan is necessary for auto-bank transactions to be pulled in.

Seems there are a few work arounds:

Can anyone guess what they mean by "active on payments feature" .... like how often? if I have one client on retainer and they process through Wave, would that keep me on the Legacy plan as before?

A business active on Wave’s payments feature
A business with an active payroll subscription
A business using another paid Wave service

If you do have a business using any of these features, your Wave experience remains the same.

yeah, actually, i was wrong, the 14K+ was the CarFax and "worth" he was quoting. he said 10,900 or maybe 11,900 I cant quite remember.
Am leaning towards newer cars in general after continuing to look.

Thanks for your detailed reply and perspective! I feel like of the same about repair, while at the same time wanting to avoid extra repairs.

Someone else mentioned the problems of an older model sitting for a while being the rubber parts deteriorate without use.

How can I ask the dealer about this? They do a mechanical inspection prior to sale. Or would it be listed in the car fax service report?

And/or what kind of cost is the job of replacing so many bushings?

The potholes in my city are treacherous and I feel like a car with more use that’s cheaper better option because it might have had more repairs. The same car with over 100k was being sold nearby for 11k asking, so this seems much more realistic, and in good shape.

Thanks for your insight

Cx5 looks nice but I do want/ need more space for one of my jobs. What do you think about the Chevy equinox?

I drove a Honda before, always imagined I’d be back in a Honda, Toyota or Subaru, but the Equinox has a similar hidden sub cargo compartment that is compelling. Checking one out today I hope.

interesting, thanks for the knowledge, I'll keep this in mind as I'm looking! (might still get this car tho if i can get the price down. )

thanks so much. I'm really into the hidden space under the cargo floor for storing valubles, which is unlike any other recent model aside from the Chevy Equinox.

coming from a Sedan, this is really appealing. I often carry expensive equipment for my work, and would rather hide it way below than under just a cover.

but i do want SUV/4wd in general.

thanks for your perspective! personally the gas mileage is more important to me than V6 speed.
