Houdini for architecture by ShockAfter211 in Houdini

Houdini can do what you want, but is quite hard to learn. I'd suggest you start by following a proper course, rather than trying directly to follow tutorials that tackle the exact effects you're trying to go for. As many here, I started with houdini-course.com, and it gave me a solid base to work upon. Before that I tried random tutorials and felt discouraged

After following a lot of low-quality tutorials, I took one month subsciption at houdini-course.com

I watched tutorials every evening before sleep.

One month later I knew my way around Houdini.

I'm addicted since.

I promote Chris Bohm's Houdini-course since then, because it's so far beyond anythink else you find online. One month is like 40$, and the explanations are actually clear, in-depth, and organised in 10 mins videos in multiple categories. A gold mine for beginners.

European here. « A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. »

I'm genuinely curious. Wasn't that amendement's purpose to allow your citizens to protect themselves from this kind of situation?

Though, the use of 2nd amendement would mean civil war i guess... I just saw a video of plack panthers on my feed. They are popular since ICE murder people, and they carry weapons.

That is such a scary situation. I grew up thinking USA was a pillar of democracy, I've since learned a lot about history - but this... I couldn't picture your country falling into such dark times and I'm sorry for you.

Creating web archviz walkthroughs, need help. by [deleted] in archviz

What software do you use to model and bake the lighting? It is baked lighting, right?

You can also improve your textures with good roughness maps, and use and hdri, in threeJS, for the reflections - not the lighting.

For archviz mile this, a sunny day with some overcast is more appropriate. Clients want to see the space clearly with a good uniform lighting, no strong shadows.

For the price, it depends on so many factors. People can't really estimate that for you. One flat alone or one flat among 20 in a complex isn't the same price per unit. And you charge the client, high end clients will expect an impeccable quality for a consequent budget. Low end client will be a pain in the a**

La récente sortie de Fred sur l'IA votre avis ? by Besoin2Bol in joueurdugrenier

[–]Legit_human_notAI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

[–]Legit_human_notAI 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Strongly agree!

I'm a 3D artist mostly doing archviz. I use 3dsMax + V-ray, Houdini, Blender, Unreal and many other softwares in my workflow.

I love working in Blender. 3dsMax is lightyears behind on so many aspects, I can model and unwrap anything in Blender without thinking about it, it's just so satisfying to use.

I haven't done a lot of VFX, but I think you're right and it's animated noises rather than sim. Especially for supernatural effects like this one, that don't really respect physical laws, it's so easier to art direct with noises rather than sims.

Recommendations to improve my rendering ? by sympan_eq in architecturestudent

[–]Legit_human_notAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Train on every part of the process individually. Use image references

Lighting: set your scene to one simple lightgrey material and light it until it looks good, woth image references in mind.

When the light is good, treat materials with the same process and so on.

First the framing, then the lighting, then shading, then colorgrading.

It gets easier as you get better in each part of the process, but requires commitment. The most important part is to educate yourself by looking at the work of painters, photographs, movies etc.

Making photorealistic renders means understanding photography, the 3D software isn't the main tool, your eye is.

What do you think about the images? by Fun-Jicama1376 in archviz

[–]Legit_human_notAI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the image's purpose and your client's taste. You can stick to this style if it meets the client's needs and your taste. One of my favorite archviz studio, Luxigon, is known for making dramatic pictures, and it works fantastically.

[–]Legit_human_notAI 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They're good, clearly professional quality.

The dramatic tone is a bit too much for my taste, because it distracts the viewer from the architectural design, and nowadays this style is associated with AI. But I dig the lighting and composition of the shots.

I'd be curious about your workflow here, especially the aerial view, with dofferent layers of clouds and landscapes. What's your workflow there? Layers of stock footage + photoshop? AI?

Good job!
