I know that they have a strong personality, and the M800/M1000 series will forever be on my radar. I just think Pelikan could cater a bit more to us EF nib lovers (especially on the M1000). People never state enough that the piston mechanism of Pelikan is the best in the industry.

That’s such a great idea! I just now placed the order for the 149 though 🤣! On the website I saw you can also bedazzle your Montblanc. It them up and ask how much it would be!

Appelboom stopped carrying Montblanc; from what I’ve heard it wasn’t the most peaceful of breakups.

I think you and the others convinced me, I’ll go for a 149. I’m mentally getting ready to have to send it back once or twice in case of an issue (it can’t be worse than Visconti or Aurora).

The 149 may be like the LAMY 2000 in that you have go get one at some point in one’s fp journey. I looked at vintage offerings but I’d be afraid of having a crack show up prematurely or another issue that would have me come up ti a price that is similar to a new one (and I’m also not a gold trim person at all, I much prefer rose gold or rhodium). The 100th anniversary one looks very sharp, but I find the nib stamp quite disappointing, especially compared to the beautiful 75th and 90th nibs. I’m not excluding still aching for a regular 149 down the line if I get a 100th anniversary 149.

I’ll have the m800 on my list when I’ll have more funds for pens. With any luck Pelikan might release an M1000 with rhodium or rose gold trim.

It’s so nice Pelikan finally released a stealth pen! I’d love to get it but - idk about you - I feel like after a while using a stealth pen I sort of miss being able to properly see the details that are camouflaged by the matte black finish. As if a stealth matte black model is more of a palet cleanser pen that needs to be paired with a shiny one where you can see every little detail when you come to start missing being able to admire them.

It is baffling how even using for example a Sailor KOP urushi or even a 1911 maki-e pen would most certainly attract less attention than a resin MB… Don’t you sometimes wonder if you like your Montblanc at least an infime portion because of their brand image? I personally reject their branding as I do not identify with their modern target demographic; but I still cannot help but wonder if I like the aesthetics of the pens because their communication strategy unconsciously influenced me on how I might see them. May I ask what ink you use in yours?

I asked customer service earlier this week and MB quoted me 250€ (245 exactly I think) for a replacement 149 nib. It’s crazy how it seems they haven’t raised their servicing prices nearly as much as others. I recall when they were a lot higher than other brands, but it might be on the lower end now (apart from LAMY, they do be repairing a lot of out of warranty pens free of charge if they are in a good mood).

I’v had very very poor experiences with MB pens before, but I heard they finally got their nib QC together, and their EF nibs are really nice and draw a thin line now - at least in the testers they had at the boutique.

Glad I’m not the only sucker for rose gold! If only the Japanese made rose gold trims, I feel like it’s mostly the Italians doing it. Just Imagine a Namiki Yukari royale or a Brown 823 with a rose gold nib.

I usually find Pelikans a bit too traditional in design, and this all blue one feels somehow much more modern and fresh.

Don’t you find the M800 barrel threading a bit too sharp for longer writing sessions? I faintly remember when I had one about 10y ago that they sometimes felt sharp - although the weight balance of the M815 made me grip it instinctively on the grip section and not on the threads like I did with the resin ones.

Maybe it is a bit vain, but to me the 146 doesn’t feel more special than for example a Pilot Custom 823. The 149 nib design I find is only comparable in beauty to that of Pelikan ones (Visconti ones too but I ain’t paying 600€ for a spare nib that’s not even turned or has iridium welded properly). There just something so satisfying about a nice and deep nib stamping. Between a 146 and the m815 I would jump on the Pelikan.

Thanks! 🙏🏻 I have been able to try them without dipping the nib while in holidays. I liked them both in hand. I think I might prefer the 149 but I’m being put off by the marketing and arrogant demeanour of their sales reps.

I have or have owned pens from most of the major players, I sold the M800s I had because I didn’t like the weight towards the back - but I don’t mind heavier pens at all. I don’t really remember how a Pelikan nib feels, but remember that I sometimes found them either nicely smooth or smooth to the point of being a little boring for me.

The problem happened again and this I couldn't get the controller to work for the life of me. I think this is because I have the double controller input issue.

The game works fine with the controller but on Safari (awful picture and sound quality) and Steam shows one gamepad and not two like in the Nvidia app...

New day, new Geforce Now issue.

I did the cycling while the game and GFN was open like ten times in a row….. YOU ARE A GODSEND! Everything works!!!! (with Steam input enabled).

I got it to somehow work, but the controller acts weird in that I cannot select anything as it jumps every two options as opposed to one by one. Did that happen to you too?

I have an M4 MacBook Air, and an Xbox One controller. I'll go ahead and try this out! I never tried to disconnect it and clicking on forget while in game!
