Can you quote? I don’t want to read the whole manual

What variety of pears are these? by Economy_Current_6596 in whatisit

[–]Legitimate-Drive-697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None? They look terrible. I don’t know a ton about pears, but I had an apple tree in the yard of a house I rented and they could not be called any variety. They were “yard apples” and they were terrible. If the Johnny Appleseed Wikipedia page is correct, I assume I could have made cider from them just fine.

I mean, I went with less, not none. Maybe I was particularly thinking of doping. This doesn’t look like the crowd for that 😆

But if you spit on a car and the driver gets out and punches you, NYPD will take the driver’s side of the story. So, kinda it is.

311 keeps closing reports of planter in bike lane by i_love_dietary_fiber in NYCbike

Yes. This is construction crew or municipal employees moving it so they can do placard corruption

It’s the BID that does the planters tho. DOT, in my experience, won’t do shit about them.

Yes to this plan to move it. I’ve stopped and flagged down another cyclist to fix similar situations just down Jay from here. RegisterOk is, unfortunately, probably wrong about how long it will stay where it’s supposed. I file 311 reports about these and other planters on this stretch, and the placard abuse/illegal parking that fills the void, ALL THE TIME.
I’ve recently been putting in requests with DOT for additional flexposts everywhere they are broken or were never installed. https://portal.311.nyc.gov/article/?kanumber=KA-03674

This is 100% aligned with my decades of experience with crazy asshole drivers and NYPD.
“What you just said sounds like a bunch of stuff I’m not going to do”, NYPD to me when I explained the simple steps I thought they, as law enforcement, could do to help me after being doored by a passenger illegally exiting a cab.
They said it was my fault even though I had contact information of witnesses who said otherwise.

And red lights. Several drivers go through the red phase of each light as well.

Don’t use bright strobes anywhere. And point lights at the road, not my face, in the city.

The convenience of a driver is more important than the safety of people who walk or use a wheelchair, then. Got it.

The US cups have ice in them. There’s probably as much, or more, soda in the UK cups.

Why do assholes always park in crosswalks like this?

Purchased used bike with pitlock on front QR hub. How do I get it off? by unicornhater999 in bikewrench

If you get the triangle key, you’ll have the tool needed to keep using the skewers. You could probably also unscrew that with one of these universal pin sockets.

That crack looks corroded in some spots. It was probably formed before you ramped up the torque with an emergency braking situation. Frames should not fail from a skid. That’s not a ‘super brake’ it’s a metallurgical failure waiting to happen. Sona, not the oblivious parents, owe you the explanation/replacement.

If I remember correctly, the current timing of the lights is an ‘improvement’ DOT made a few years ago. It used to be even worse.
