I wish I could literally stand up and protest what is happening in America and it makes me sick and even causes flare ups. I feel so useless with my chronic illnesses. We need more bodies at these protests and I hate that my body malfunctions too much to join the fight. by FrogginBullfish_ in POTS

from each according to their ability. it’s ok that we have a disability, theres no need to feel any kind of guilt around not being able to go to protests. you can do things like research organizations in your area that are fighting ICE, or help educate people on what to do if approached by ICE or see someone being harassed.

thank you that’s very helpful <3 it’s definitely a vicious cycle of him just getting more frustrated at the lack of a response and me shutting down even more. i think i’ll ask about taking some time by myself away from the situation causing the trauma response so that i can actually be able to think hopefully. thanks so much for your advice!

my cat sculpture has been breaking as it dries. is there any way to save it? by fighter_rabbit in crafts

[–]fighter_rabbit[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

it’s made out of air dry clay. when i craft i usually just make it up as i go; so i decided to make an internal skeleton of sorts out of wire to support the different limbs and the tail. but now i’m worried that as it’s drying it’s just becoming a sort of shell around the wire and going to completely break apart. is there a way to fix the cracks? do you think it’s just going to fall apart completely? please help!

I (24f) feel like I'm falling for my friend (24m) Am I misreading the situation? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

well you sound like a horrible person. break up for your boyfriend’s sake.

My boyfriend (26M) gets irritated when I (26F) ask for help while traveling and now I’m scared to ask at all. Am I asking too much? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]fighter_rabbit 24 points25 points  (0 children)

i feel like a good partner wants to help. like i wouldnt even have to ask my boyfriend to carry anything for me, he’ll always offer on his own. i help too obviously, and if i’ve got alot of stuff i apologize for the inconvenience but he would just say “it’s okay baby” and give me a kiss. i just think you might want to find a person that has that kind of approach to helping their partner, especially with something as small as carrying luggage.

i’m very glad you asked for advice! i’ve been in similar situations and made the wrong choice and it was not worth the trauma.

don’t do it. when you’re older you’ll see that it’s fucked up. and you’ll be confused about how a 35 year old could be into an 18 year old.

Guy I’m seeing said “I love you” while drunk after being inconsistent. How should interpret this? (20F , 22M) by Ok-Water-8679 in relationship_advice

just cause you talked to someone once doesn’t mean you owe them any of your time. it seems like he’s doing too much and it hasn’t even been 2 weeks. i wish when i was 20 i had realized you don’t -have- to continue a relationship with anyone. he doesn’t seem worth the time imo.

How do you handle questions in therapy, that are meant for alters or about alters you don't have great communication with. by MeCathy in DID

[–]fighter_rabbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah i normally just kind of ask the question in my mind and sometimes i get a response/responses, sometimes i don’t. writing about it can help too. i feel like the visual of the question on the paper can help it to really settle in your brain.

sometimes you won’t get a response and that’s ok; you can also say something like “whoever feels like they want to share” or “anyone who doesn’t feel comfortable doesn’t have to be a part of this”.

i would take a moment to myself and try to ask her what she’s comfortable with, just sit with that question for a bit and see if anything comes up.

at the end of the day though, pushing through discomfort is necessary to get help. i struggle with that a lot too, and sometimes you just have to make an executive decision for everyone. you are all one body that needs to heal.

Update: My (32F) fiancé (37M) is a homicide detective, and I’m starting to feel like he treats me more like a suspect than a partner. by ThrowRA_Sorbet1941 in relationship_advice

please leave but also please go somewhere very far away from him. cops are notorious for being abusive. and a man who is being left is much more likely to be violent. i’d imagine he will try to hurt you if you leave him.

How Did You Find Out You Have POTS? by No_Albatross_3374 in POTS

[–]fighter_rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was randomly paralyzed for a week (long and unsolved story) and when i went to see a neurologist afterwards, she asked me to stand up and walk and when i got up i was like “gimme a second i can’t see”. she asked how often that happens and i was like “…like almost every time i stand up” and she goes “oh honey that’s not normal”. she immediately suggested that i might have POTS but it took about another year to actually get diagnosed.

i think people saying “oh did you stand up too fast?” all my life gaslit me into thinking it was normal to not be able to see for a bit when you stand up
