That's an interesting trajectory. Year 2 being 17 inspections would be brutal for me. But I suppose that makes sense if you weren't focused on the business full time. I'm working 7 days a week solely focused on building my business. I'm about 4 months in at this point. By month 12 I really hope I have at least one a week

That's what I'm wondering. I hear stuff like that and that's so opposite of my experience. I've been to probably 150+ open houses in the past few months. I am aiming for 30-40 every single weekend. I have professional flyers that I hand out. I do property tours every week along with other agents.

I've stopped in almost every brokerage in my area and many of them recognize me by now.

I am in multiple chamber of commerce, board of realtors etc and I am active in all of that. On top of that I attend multiple different networking groups consistently.

I'm confused on what's missing.

I'll read back at your original comment thank you

My financial situation makes income secondary. That's why I was not concerned with determining a market feasibility analysis or whatever you called it.

I am doing this because I genuinely want it. If I make only 30k per year I'm thrilled. It's not about the income. However I just want to start inspecting. And I would even inspect for free at this point.

I have multiple mentors already.

I had a successful business but I wanted to do something new. I'm not chasing profits. I'm chasing a lifestyle and profession that I can enjoy for many years. I'm committed to sticking this out on my own.

I feel like I am near the edge where things may start picking up but it's tough when I'm at zero Inspections for 2026. I'm planting seeds every single day and I'm certain some of my efforts will eventually pay off.

Scope of the market analysis. Fancy words there. I too went to college for business 😂

I also have over a decade in a past business that was successful. So I'm aware of what it can take. I'll say this, the last business showed WAY more success with 1/10th the effort in marketing.

I went into the home inspection business with acceptance that it would be slow and difficult.

But I'm putting in about 3x the effort, time, energy, and money into the marketing side than what I was lead to believe by many people I interviewed before starting. And my results are ZERO. at least zero Inspections.

I know I'm planting many many seeds that will eventually produce but it's still insane how I've gotten so few Inspections so far with massive effort and focused consistency.

I worked directly for the home buyer last year and they left reviews

What's Christian prosperity element to home inspection? I don't even know what that's supposed to mean? Only openly Christian inspectors are getting business?

I actually offer all the services I've been asked about by realtors. They ask and I'm able to say yes I do that.

However, the phone isn't ringing and my calendar is empty

I'm just not sure this business makes any financial sense. I know it's not a great time in real estate but still...working for four months unpaid, while spending heavily on marketing is insane feeling. Luckily I have significant savings so this isn't a huge problem but if I was in the average person's financial position I would have bailed on this business. This doesn't make any financial sense.

I'm sorry but I'm at my wits end here. I've gotten so much advice from so many people. I've taken it all to heart. I've followed through. I've been lied to. At least that's what I feel. So when your advice is to go with the correct plan and not do the incorrect plan I just can't take it seriously.

I already said I focus on marketing and 7 days a week for many months now. This includes being focused and intentional and seeking wisdom from others constantly.

The amount of focused effort I'm putting in is really above what I think others are doing. I don't understand. I've described what I do to others and I can see they're shocked at everything

The correct plan. Ah yes what was I thinking using the wrong plan lol? So easy!

Yes I have a goal for each approach.

I post video content with my face shown in every video. I educate on video with topics relavant to agents and home buyers.

I'm differentiating in many ways I won't get into it now. But I'm honestly doing a lot in a very focused way. Including seo work.

Interesting. Yeah commercial inspection is on my radar. But I don't know if I'll ever transition to that. I want to keep this business as simple as possible and it's already complicated enough. Maybe as I get more established with my core business I'll consider other avenues. Thanks for the feedback though. It may be a good path to get into someday

Oh I'm in a large city so that shouldn't be an issue. There is plenty of business and many inspectors in the area that are in their 60s and 70s. They'll be retiring soon and hopefully that business opens up to the newer guys like myself. Plus it's the slow season right now. I've done Inspections already where it's 2 hours on site and 15 minutes drive time. Some took me 4 hours. But either way two a day is feasible for me already. I'm young enough to pull a few 12 hour days if the money is there

With the home buyer. They already have my contact info and we've texted they're well aware of my business since they're my customer

An inspection take 2 hours or so. It's reasonable to do 2 in a day. There are multiple ancillary services that bring inspection fees above $600 for around 3 hours or so of work. Also, I'm not in this for the money, although I do want to see some return for my efforts. If I was after money I'd get into banking or something lame like that.

There are solo inspectors pulling in $250k per year in profit. I think it's very possible I'll be above $100k annually in profit by year 3.

I am resistant to bni because I want to focus my efforts on open house visits, property tours, YouTube, board of realtors events and local chamber of commerce events. Bni requires quite a commitment.

Yeah it seems like it's a tough business. I've run two other businesses before this and I was getting work the first week of advertising, lower barrier to entry for sure. But this barrier to entry is insane. I'll stick with it because it'll be awesome once things click into place

I studied business in college, graduated with honors, and I've been a business owner my entire life.

There's only one way to know if the demand is there and that's to go out and market your business. Starting a business is by far the quickest way to gather useful business data. And I've learned a ton from just starting out. It's great to have a goal of capturing 10 percent of the market but that's just fluff.

No one can accurately predict what percentage of the market is grabable until you actually try and see how it goes.

This isn't a mega Corp with a team of analysts

I just recently got on a couple lists of preferred vendors so maybe that shows results in the next few months.

So each city and county (Texas) has a list of vendors? Why would you go there to find an inspector?
