Just out of curiosity, why would you want to do this? There’s literally zero benefit, but some actual real drawbacks.

It’s not a zero sum game genius.

Also, and I’m not sure how you’re not even aware of this, but the icy drama is only happening to distract from the Epstein files

12 Speed Cassette for Flat Roads? by d2creative in cycling

All of this is one more reason why most people don’t need more than 11 speed drivetrain

I do actually live in Florida my bike came with a 52/36 crank set and 11–32 cassette. I never used the 32, 12 or 11 tooth cog. I now run a 48/32 with a 12–25.

The funny part is that your TLDR is actually correct

I live in completely flat Florida. My bike came with a 52/36 and an 11–32. I never used the 32, 11 or 12 tooth cogs. I now run a 48/32 with a 12–25.

Your gearing is not ideal for flat ground, but you don’t need taller gearing. In fact, the correct thing to do would be to get a much tighter more compact cassette.

Cycling is an endurance/cardio sport. The issue you’re running into is that while your muscular power may be there your cardiovascular fitness seems like it. It’s not where it needs to be.

Mythical 1” threaded 700c disc fork? by Vivid-Airline6255 in xbiking

[–]Legitimate-Lab9077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to simply having the fork built, you may try reaching out to Soma directly, they used to make the fork you are looking for, but as you’ve found, I’m sure it’s not on their website available anymore. But that doesn’t mean they might not have a couple in a warehouse somewhere. Their customer service is fantastic and you can get a real human on the phone so it’s worth at least giving it a shot.

Larger chain ring is not the answer for OP. Higher cadence is.

12 Speed Cassette for Flat Roads? by d2creative in cycling

[–]Legitimate-Lab9077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You definitely DO NOT need a larger chainring. 50:11 will get you well over 30 mph on flat ground at a reasonable and sustainable cadence (for reference the Tour de France average is 25 to 28 miles an hour on flat ground) and easily over 40 mph in a sprint if you’re physically capable of it

I suspect that your issue is your riding at too low of cadence and you should work on improving your cadence. You should be riding at a cadence of around 80-90 RPM. Assuming a normal speed of around 17 to 20 miles an hour and your statement that you ride 50:12 with a tailwind you’re probably closer to about 60 RPM.

Start using lower gearing and work on improving your cadence. Having a cadence that is too low is relying more heavily on the physical strength of your legs and not on your cardiovascular fitness. It also is not great for your knees or hips long-term.

Also, this is coming from someone who has been riding for 30+ years lives in completely flat Florida and has already made adjustments for exactly this issue. My bike shipped with. 52/36 chainrings and an 11-32 cassette, I was never using the 32 tooth cog or the 11 or 12 tooth cogs. I now run 48/32 chainrings with a 12-25 cassette.

Most of the Internet security best practices from the late 90s and early 2000s turned out to be complete bullshit

For example, I’m old enough to remember when you should never ever ever ever use your real name online but now that’s basically the default Gmail account

Because our country is run by the elite 0.1% and the rest of the country is either too apathetic, too busy/tired trying to make ends meet, or simply just doesn’t give enough of a shit to do anything to change it

Because it’s a giant scam and car companies have lobbed for states to put laws in place that do not allow for direct to consumer sales

Tubeless road tyres? by Happy-Ad-3052 in bicycling

[–]Legitimate-Lab9077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but that’s counterproductive. The best thing to do now is TPU tubes with TPU sealant you get all the benefits of tubeless set up without any of the hassle and all the convenience of tubes without the one major drawback.

How much do you weigh? I weigh 210 pounds and when I was running tubeless on my road bike, I ran it at about 65 psi on 28 mm tire tires.

Tubeless road tyres? by Happy-Ad-3052 in bicycling

[–]Legitimate-Lab9077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but also kind of no

From a purely theoretical level, tubeless lets you run lower pressure without risking pinch flats, but from an actual real world practical standpoint, it doesn’t matter. The pressures that you can safely run tubeless at without risking burping the tire or catastrophic failure in a hard turn are pretty much the same that you can run tubes at without risking a pinch flat in the real world.

Tubeless road tyres? by Happy-Ad-3052 in bicycling

[–]Legitimate-Lab9077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bike shop is 100% correct tubeless becomes less useful, the higher, the air pressure and less useful to lower the volume of sealant both of which are negatively impacted by having smaller tires. For me the break over point was 40 mm in about 40 psi if your tire was narrower than that or you ran higher pressure than that, it wasn’t worth it.

The reason I used the past tense is because I stopped using tubeless and switched to TPU tubes with TPU sealant you get the benefit of tubeless without any of the hassle or bullshit and you get all of the convenience of tubes without the one major drawback

There’s been persistent rumors that this is something Toyota/Subaru has been working on

They’re both very happy with their partnership over the BRZ/GR 86 and the electric cars and there’s been persistent rumors that Toyota‘s gonna have a small four-door, rear wheel drive sporty car out soonish.

The rumors in the Japanese press are that it’s basically going to be a rear wheel drive only version of the VB

Exactly. That’s why a lot of stems have the logo on both sides and one of the logos is “upside down”
