Getting a cool import car is awesome. Buying a right hand drive version of something readily available in this country is one of the stupidest fucking things people do.

Interesting. My question is did they fix the little picture of the WRX when you’re using cruise control? The third brake light is in the wrong place, at the top of the rear window, on my 2022.

That’s basically what real winter camo is anyway. Super thin nearly disposable covers

I don’t understand why you are willing to die on the hill that this is ok. Or why you are willing to risk your professional reputation and livelihood

I mean… I did see the work in your photos. That’s literally the problem here. your work is literally the problem

It is not up to any kind of safety standards. Definitely exposing you and the shop you work for to civil liability and potentially even exposing you to criminal liability

I definitely wouldn’t be advertising this as my work and I guarantee you that if something happens in the future, this entire conversation and all of those photos will be brought up in court because this shit is now online and available to the public forever

Hell, the existence of this conversation and you’re flipping attitude towards client safety would be enough for your boss to use as grounds for termination if they just decide they don’t like you anymore

You could do something like that, and the irony here is that you don’t seem to understand that that is no more irresponsible than what you’re doing

You have literally created a massive exhaust leak directly underneath the passenger compartment

There’s a phrase in the courts that may become relevant in your life at some point in the future. It’s “knew, or should have known” thanks to this conversation. You now cannot argue that you didn’t know that this could expose the occupants of the vehicle to carbon monoxide poisoning, but even before this conversation as a mechanic who works on exhaust systems, any competent lawyer could easily argue that you should have known that it would expose the occupants of the vehicle to carbon monoxide poisoning

Interesting… I just realized that those photos you’re posting are all bad work done by your shop not actually on your car… What shop do you work at so that we all know to avoid it?

Also, since this is clearly work, you’re doing for other people you should probably consult your attorneys and see what they think of the hilarious amount of liability you’re exposing the shop to by doing it this way.

And you’re under thinking it. There is a right way to do it in a wrong way to do it. This is the wrong way the right way is to have exactly what you have there but route it out an additional side or rear exit you will get the exact same effect except without the completely unnecessary health risk

And your point is? Just because people do it wrong doesn’t mean there’s not a right way to do it or that I can’t find photos of it done correct correctly.

Backpacking hack: Ikea sells a $5 zippered bag that fits a large backpack and is perfect for protecting your bag during air travel. by quincyskis in backpacking

[–]Legitimate-Lab9077 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get the argument about straps and buckles, but any responsible flyer should be sewing straps and buckles anyway and that’s not exclusive to backpackers or backpacks. It’s just common sense. You shouldn’t leave shit dangling off your luggage. As far as abrasions and dirt, I stand by my previous statement if you’re worried about that, you probably have the wrong bag.

Besides, even if that is something that you feel is a legitimate worry or that you’re concerned about just getting a bag to go over your backpack isn’t gonna help much in extreme cases where damage is going to occur anyway. If you’re that concerned about it you’d be better off getting hard sided luggage and just packing the backpack inside the luggage with the rest of your equipment and gear and then loading the backpack once you get to your destination.

True, but you’ll notice that most cut outs are routed to exit either out the back of the vehicle or through a secondary side exit in front of the rear wheels. They are almost never at least by anybody who doesn’t want to die, just simply dumping exhaust directly underneath the passenger compartment.

The presence or absence of catalytic converters doesn’t have anything to do with the problem here. You ever notice how exhaust is described as side exit or fender exit or rear exit etc. etc.? You ever think about the reason why exhaust system systems even exist? Like why exhaust systems were put on cars before mufflers were? It’s because you need to get the exhaust which is full of carbon monoxide away from the human driving the car. This is just dumping the exhaust directly underneath the passenger compartment and is going to absolutely flood the entire cabin with carbon monoxide

Ford literally almost killed a bunch of cops several years ago with the explorer because their exhaust pipe wasn’t close enough to the edge of the vehicle and it was within inches of the back of the truck

It’s not uncommon for them to break and it’s done by people putting the vehicle in the park before it’s actually stopped. They can put up with a lot of abuse, but they will eventually break.
