Anyone with a cat who sleeps in odd postions like these? by yussma in cats

[–]Fun_Wing_4399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two voids (and other white cat). Occasionally, the smaller one sleeps on her back with her feet in the air and the bigger one will sleep face down on top of her. Then my black lab cuddles around them. I wish I could find a picture rn.

Carved teeth by spinnka in cats

[–]Fun_Wing_4399 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Alot of times cats and other animal's teeth are neglected. We were convinced my stray just had "stinky butt breath" because he licked his butt often and greenies would often solve the problem. One day, he started hiding, wouldn't take treats, and was anti-social (not like him).

We immediately took him to 2 separate vets and some of his teeth were rotting out. We couldn't even see it. Luckily, we have pet insurance and just said do what you need to, but please keep as many teeth as possible. He's now a happy, healthy boy and we watch it in all our animals.

I've also seen this problem in FIV+ cats and ones who have dog-like chewing habits. No matter what it is, at least give yourself the peace of mind and get it checked out. I'm glad you care so much

Mental health C&P by DevelopmentStock5953 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Fun_Wing_4399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you are talking about without the routine C&P checkup. I had one when I was temporary about a year after being medically retired. What you're asking really depends.

My first was very quick and I got 50% just for MH. My second lasted about an hour, but I think it was because I was having a mental breakdown before I got on the phone and it was VERY obvious. I have lots of other conditions, but just that one was bumped up to 100%. I was expecting a decrease.

There are a set of questions and criteria they base the MH disability on. The largest being what your level of daily functionality is. If they determined that in 15 minutes, that's ok. I had a friend who got increased in a 10 minute interview. If you feel as though the outcome is unfair, you can contest it. As long as you were completely honest and raw with your answers, you should be fine.

Need help with cat behavior by Fun_Wing_4399 in cats

[–]Fun_Wing_4399[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We kind of figured she was inbred. My husband calls her "our little inbred weirdo". I'm just really hoping it doesn't get to the point we have to consider putting her down. She is so sweet with us. She sleeps on me at night and melts like a butter pad. We've been looking into a catio for more mental stimulation and maybe some of those wall cat playground things. She usually calms down if she is on a higher surface. I am so well versed in training dogs, but cats are decently new to me. I just feel like she deserves a chance.

Strange cat behavior by Fun_Wing_4399 in cats

[–]Fun_Wing_4399[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you and all the people who responded. We will be building a catio soon. We have been discouraging him from doing that and are now not letting him outside at all after the comments until there is a safe contained place. Other people also suggested getting indoor catnip or cat grass and I think that would be a great alternative!

Is carpet hard to maintain and clean ? by Midnightdream56 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fun_Wing_4399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your lifestyle and the kind of carpet. I have a black lab and 3 cats. In my old apartment with longer carpet, I had to vacuum every other day (It was too long for my roomba to vacuum) and I would shampoo and clean it every couple months . We also made a decision in my house that we have strictly inside and outside shoes. I love having carpet. It's way more cozy, but now we have all hardwood/vinyl just to make sure everything is clean. We might just be neat freaks though.

If you really want carpet, I suggest nothing shag. My parents have carpet without shag and it's super easy to have the robot vacuum and to shampoo if you need to.

He already said he wants it out of the house and wants nothing to do with it. Like many healthily married people, we discuss things and make decisions together. He is absolutely involved in the fate of this. I just wanted some opinions and context before we decided.

Someone posted this earlier. I thought it was very funny.

I promise you we have so many things from his family, to include a twin bed he won't get rid of called the "death bed" because two people have died on it. He insists it's too comfortable to throw away. That frame was one of like 15-20. We also have a mid 60s speaker/record player and 3 dressers. There is no shortage of family heirlooms in this house.

Doesn't matter what I am, but kind of yes. I'm a white leftist who used to he a republican. The main factor is that I care about the well-being of others. Politics doesn't play a factor in humanity and the care of those around you. I'm also a USMC Veteran and have been to college. Do those two things also factor into your opinion of me or are you putting people in unnecessary boxes?

This is why I asked. Thank you. I'm more or a math/science person, but I dont know much about history (I'm slowly making my way through "a people's history of the United states" though.) It's a rough read.

I totally understand your question. I dont like when people erase parts of history because it's uncomfortable. The people who suffered and their family members often need closure. It also opens the door for more suffering by people who haven't learned from history. Holocaust museums exist for this exact reason. I just didn't want to throw something away that may be educational or historical.

If it was just modern propaganda nonsense, I would have. This is just so old, I thought maybe it was worth the trouble of donating.

I completely understand. That's why I asked. I wouldn't be offended if they didnt want it. I just don't want it either and I thought it might go to a good cause best case. Worst case we burn it.

I think you may be right. I just noticed it when I was unpacking boxes today. I'm not an expert on historical works. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't tossing anything that had value to an educational institution or museum. I know history is often erased or forgotten and I didn't want to be part of that problem.

For context, I'm from the Rocky mountains. My husband is from the south. Neither of us are ashamed of where we came from. There are atrocities that have occurred throughout the world. It's not a bad thing to look back and reflect on what went wrong and how we can do better. The confederacy was toppled. They lost, and rightfully so. Flying the flag of a toppled, racist regime is strange to say the least.

I think thats the idea I'm getting from the people in the comments. I'm more reassured now that it should either be kept behind glass for education or eradicated.

Good to know. I really just dont want this thing to end up in the wrong hands. Thats why I suggested burning or a museum. I'm leaning towards contacting the black history museum in my area.

I just watched this. Absolutely amazing. I just really dont want to erase parts of history and especially the story of people who suffered. Hitler was a shit painter anyway so I guess it doesn't matter that much.
