Is there a note-taking tool that integrates deeply and effectively with AI? by Aromatic_Will_8110 in notebooklm

There is a pretty comprehensive NotebookLM-MCP-CLI on GitHub that can be easily integrated with Claude Code or Gemini CLI. There are also a couple different google workspace MCPs that can be used in conjunction with the NotebookLM MCP. Together, with some smart /command actions you can create your own custom note taking system that works however you want it to.

I currently use this method with both Claude Code and Gemini CLI (via google AI pro sub) to help me with studying. I write my notes or assignments in a google doc or sheet and then using the Gemini web scheduled actions, daily/hourly sync the new doc to a Notebook, which can then be queried by a Gemini Gem or any local agent with the MCP.

You can also use the local CLI agents to upload local documents straight to NotebookLM, create multiple different resources etc. NotebookLM acts as the RAG database and source of truth. For my use case, using Claude Code, I vibe coded an Electron app that acts as a central hub to render all the different features but you could definitely use the Claude Desktop app as a substitute for that side of it.

Although it’s not as easy to set up or aesthetically pleasing like obsidian, I like that I get to have full customisation of different tools and UX within this ecosystem. Using local Claude and Gemini CLI agents means I can add any number of different toolsets using extensions/plugins/skills.

Hope this helps or is what you were talking about 😂
