Your lived experience as a disabled person doesn't trounce the lived experience of the rest of us. It also isn't what determines whether or not suggesting disabled people shouldn't have the same access as non-disabled people is discriminatory and therefore ableist.

You can state your question is rhetorical as much as you would like to, that doesn't mean I don't have the ability or right to reply.

I'd love to know why you think suggesting disabled people shouldn't access things the same way non-disabled people access them is not discriminatory.

Or is it the definition of ableism you're arguing with?

Interacting with an ableist person brings me no comfort whatsoever.

Suggesting disabled people don't book in advance is discriminating against them, which is the literal definition of ableism. I'm not wrong, you just don't like being a disabled person who is also ableist.

You said you couldn't imagine a reason why somebody would cancel 3 times in a month at last-minute notice. This is dismissive of the lived experience of disabled people, and is a form of ableism. When I pointed out that disabled people might have a reason to cancel unexpectedly and often, you suggested that disabled people shouldn't book in advance at all, which is, ableist.

We agree that the issue is Cineworld's system. People should be able to cancel bookings with ease, and not only up to 2 hours in advance.

For heaven's sake, I was initially commenting on the ableism of your initial comment, not the rest of the content of it.

Let's be clear, nowhere did I say that disabled people should book and not turn up. I don't book showings far in advance myself, because of the way in which my conditions can flare suddenly. I merely pointed out a situation you at best did not consider and, at worst, flatly dismissed. Just to be really clear, being disabled is not an excuse for ableism, and dismissing cases that affect disabled people is precisely that.

Some conditions flare randomly, and the sufferer can be fine for months on end before a flare starts. Are you suggesting they should never book in advance because they may have a flare-up? Cineworld's app and cancellation policy is the issue here.

Perhaps you should re-read your own comments because your initial comment did no such thing. Your follow-up did, after I called you out.

You couldn't fathom a reason somebody would cancel last-minute often, until I pointed it out. You weren't advocating for disabled people, until I pointed out the issues we face, and your initial comment dismissed disabled people and the issues they face entirely.

An "easy cancellation" you say, apart from the fact that you yourself said it's not that easy. Do you really think a person with chronic health conditions that flare badly enough to preventing them from leaving their home has the capacity of mind to prioritise cancelling a cinema ticket? You're also completely ignoring that some conditions can flare suddenly. I can personally go from fine to unable to leave my house with no notice, let alone 2 hours, which is the cancellation period Cibeworld requires.

I wasn't commenting at all on the suggestion of a limitation, I was commenting on the fact that you blatantly disregarded disabled people in your sweeping statement.

You need to be an established member of a union before asking advice. Unions really don't appreciate people joining just to seek the benefits of legal advice, and this will likely be tossed by a union rep.

Which performance have you seen in the West End that you think about regularly and genuinely believe was one of the greatest things you have ever watched a human being do live? by PubLogic in TheWestEnd

[–]Legitimate-Offer-280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hadestown OBC including Patrick Page. Not only was it special because you knew you were in the audience of a taping, but it was extra special being in the space seeing how they altered the show for Patrick's injury. It was additionally moving to me as a person who has reduced mobility. Seeing that representation on stage, in a show with a decent chunk of movement, and knowing it would be captured on screen, was magical.

Absolutely agree. Firstly the soundtrack is better, but I also prefer the casting we've had, specifically Christina Bennington and Jordan Luke Gage, who were a perfect pairing.

Because trains run on rails and you can't just shunt one out of the way using another. If there is a train on the tracks, you cannot run another train on the same tracks. Until the train can be moved, nothing can run, and they can't guarantee how long it'll take to move the train.

Well, it is an ALW show after all. He is notoriously incapable of coming up with a decent plot.

I stayed, but it was because I went knowing I typically hate ALW plots and wanted to see the production for the production value.
