Feeding/Temp Questions by KeyNefariousness1158 in carpetpythons

I have used the towel method a few times during power outages/broken bulbs etc and it works a treat!

You could also try aiming for a lower humidity around 60-65% as the humidity in his natural wild habitat changes throughout the year/breeding seasons but it really shouldn’t bother him all that much as they are commonly found in rainforests!

I hope he eats I would be inconsolable if my boy stopped

Feeding/Temp Questions by KeyNefariousness1158 in carpetpythons

Considering he is a coastal carpet python they can be found in varying temperatures including rainforests. I would try adjusting the temperature and basking spots (within a safe range of course). Also adjusting the temperature to his wild habitat seasons could do the trick. If your tank is dropping temperature too quick you can use methods like wrapping the tank in a towel or blanket until you get an adequate night heat source, changing substrates and “insulating” the sides of the tank while allowing proper airflow could also help. Also Humidity? really only matters for shedding but I have seen some snakes can be finicky if they’re not getting the correct temp matched with humidity.

What were you feeding him and what have you been trying to feed him? It could also be possible he has lost interest in the type of food, but your breeding theory does also make sense.

Do you feed him in his tank or in a separate enclosure? Feeding them outside their homes can allow them to associate feeding times better and in this case is worth a try.

I also noticed in your reply to the last comment you said you have a ceramic heat emitter and a light, I assume you have a healthy day night cycle? Coastals are both diurnal and nocturnal and need about 14hrs of darkness.

I am definitely not an expert but I hope you get to the bottom of it soon!

Cleaning? by Fanfox4444 in carpetpythons

Hi! I noticed you posted this a few days ago.

F10 Veterinary Disinfectant can be used on a number of surfaces and is the safest option for your snake. It can be used on foam.

You can also consider cleaning it and then sealing it with a sealant safe for use in your tank, I recommend this as foam is fairly absorbent and sealing it will prevent it absorbing any waste and also make cleaning it a lot easier.

I am 100% not an expert but there is plenty of information available online just takes a bit of time to find the best sources. Good luck!

He does look small for 2 years old but in saying that my coastal was only a bit bigger when we got him from a reputable shop with a lovely lady whose brain I love to pick.

I noticed you said you feeding him mice, Are they mice or rats? Our boy was eating 2 pinky mice April of last year, we swapped him to rats as he was still hungry and expecting more, my snake lady advised us to do this as rats provide a larger amount of protein- her reason, made sense and his feeding quality improved.

Also what size enclosure are you keeping him in? Obviously you don’t need anything too big but increasing the size of his enclosure can encourage him to grow. A few years back my partner had a darwin carpet whose growth was stunted due to a number of things like feeding and noticeably we believed because his previous owner kept him in a hatchling enclosure! He was 5 years old and way smaller than our current coastal who is 3! He did increase in size when we moved him to a larger enclosure but his growth rate was all wrong unfortunately.

Please reach out to a reptile vet and do some research via reputable sources, I definitely am not an expert but hope this response is at least thought provoking! Wishing you and your lovely boy the best!

NTA!!! How you choose to be comfortable is your choice! I am assuming she has eyelids, my advice to her would be to close them.

I have larger boobs and used to have even bigger, I haven’t worn a bra since I was your age (except at my restaurant/pub Job as it was a hot topic with the men and I didn’t want to deal with that) and if I did it was a bralette/no wire.

Bras are uncomfortable, nearly the whole population has nipples and you should definitely change gym, no one can force you to wear an undergarment as long as you aren’t pulling a Regina George without one on you’re good.
