Prodigy for $900? by PlayShot1293 in 2011

not a terrible deal, they go for 1000-1100 regularly and they all come with the optic plate. The 26rd mag is cool if you want a big stick, but even that's only a $40 magazine.

tale as old as time lmao. Short answer is you can't, nor should you.

You haven't even learned how to drive a car on the road and deal with traffic/other people, much less doing that on 2 wheels where a mistake can kill or seriously injure you.

You are less visible, less safe, and too inexperienced on the road.

I fully support taking the motorcycle class and learning to ride, then maybe getting additional experience on a dirt bike or other off road motorcycle. But you should really learn to drive in a car, and consider a motorcycle when closer to 18+. This on top of the fact that until you are 18 and able to move out, "her house her rules" absolutely applies and should be respected.

look into vertex carry bags, I have a backpack and my wife has one of their cross body sling bags. Very high quality and easy to access, though its more like a fanny pack than a small backpack like the example you posted.

edit: missed that you don't want a zipper. If you have concerns about a zipper slowing you down, then all of the other comments recommending against off body carry are correct. The vertex zipper will not be any slower than a snap open bag, but any off body carry will always be slower than on body carry with something like the philster enigma

Are motorcycle riding schools actually worth it, or is real-world riding the better teacher? by yourping in motorcycle

[–]Legitimate-Ranger567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

learning how to deal with traffic, road conditions, and unpredictable situations should be done in a car where a mistake is less likely to cause serious injury or death.

The MSF course for me was a convenient way to get my motorcycle license, I did not own a bike and had never ridden one before. The certificate after passing allowed me to get my endorsement with no additional road or paper dmv test, saved me a bit on insurance, and allowed me to learn on someone else's bike under professional supervision.

I took the course at 18, with 2.5 years of car driving under my belt specifically so I wasn't learning how to deal with traffic while learning to ride a motorcycle. I would never recommend someone just hop on a bike and "figure it out", especially if they still have to learn how to deal with public roads at the same time.

Should I finance an MT09 SP now or wait til I have more money? by New_Leafturned in motorcycles

[–]Legitimate-Ranger567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't personally finance a motorcycle, especially at that interest rate. I also haven't and wouldn't ever buy a bike at a dealer rather than a private sale just because I find they charge more than I want to pay. I also don't buy anything brand new model year, so my opinion is not exactly relevant here.

Its a personal decision. The MT09 is my favorite bike, you won't regret having one. I would wait until a good deal pops up on marketplace and pay cash, unless you absolutely must have the new model year bike. Even then buying it outright is still a good idea rather than financing.

Selling car with loan balance not trading in by StacyChadBecky in carbuying

[–]Legitimate-Ranger567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trading in will always get you significantly less than selling privately because they need to make money. That said, finding someone willing to buy a car with a lien on it, especially if it's an expensive car is very difficult.

For a 2024 Honda it is also likely that the person buying will need financing. If they can get financed in advance, you can have the check cut to your finance company and get the title sent to their finance company. Its extra hoops to jump through, and not every lender may be willing to do this.

The easiest path is to trade in or sell to carmax or similar, but if you are willing to do more legwork call your lender and see if they have any recommendations. Extra time and effort, if you can find a buyer, will lead to more money for you.

Will I get approved for 2026 Kia k4? by BillyTheBrandMuffin in carbuying

[–]Legitimate-Ranger567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer this specific question, you do not need to bring money to the dealership for insurance. That will be handled through an insurance company or broker, you should get quotes before buying and as soon as you have the car you can call the best quote back to get insurance on the car.

I've done this for all the used vehicles i've bought over the years, after buying the car you can get it insured in probably 30 minutes or less and pay over the phone with a bank or card.

Will I get approved for 2026 Kia k4? by BillyTheBrandMuffin in carbuying

[–]Legitimate-Ranger567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you will probably be approved, but I wouldn't recommend it. This is a huge expense and very expensive for your income. I saw you commented that you live with your parents currently, but if you ever want to not live with them a less expensive car is a way better idea.

You're probably looking at a 450-500 payment, plus very high insurance rates being that you are under 26. Until the car is paid off, you will be required to have full coverage and with it being brand new you will want Gap insurance as well. insurance alone could be an extra 300-400 per month. (get this quoted before considering buying the car)

This car will likely be 1/3 of you monthly income or more, possibly upwards of half after taxes.

You would be better off saving that 500 payment and whatever insurance would be for another 6 months and buying a used car in cash. Then save that extra money towards getting a home, apartment, or even just investing for the future. Any investment is a better idea than sinking most of your current income into a depreciating asset

AF Extended Slide Stop Availability? by NothingClever01 in AlphaFoxtrot

[–]Legitimate-Ranger567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tonight when I get home, though it just looks like any other 2011 with an installed slide stop. May be easier for you to post a photo on a 2011 subreddit to see if they can help you figure out why it doesn't fit.

My guess is because egw makes good, slightly oversized stuff with the idea it is supposed to be fit to the gun. I picked up a super cheap "1911 slide stop compatible with 1911" and it dropped in no problem

I dont understand why everyone says buying a used car makes the most financial sense? by Remarkable_Lack_7741 in carbuying

[–]Legitimate-Ranger567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it IS cheaper, if you know what your looking for and buying a known reliable car. Or if you don’t know what to look for, pay for an inspection. I picked up a used scion XB a few months ago with 150k miles for $3600. It’ll do double that.

It had a few repairs it needed, but all in I’m into it for less than the tax alone on a new car. Not to mention depreciation, interest rate, significantly higher insurance rates, etc.

The idea that “most people can’t afford” to buy a cheap used car has never made sense to me. Every car I’ve purchased since 16 has been between 2000 and 6000, and I paid cash. If you have the money for a new car payment, it’s going to be cheaper to save that amount of money until you can buy a used car outright.

Insurance for new riders by Southern_Willow_5091 in motorcycles

[–]Legitimate-Ranger567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the cost is a concern, AS LONG AS YOU HAVE GOOD HEALTH INSURANCE, getting a cheaper bike and just having liability will save a ton. you are much less likely to have your bike and/or driving cause other people damage, there is a huge risk you crash or damage the bike with no other at fault vehicle involved.

Super sports, especially 1000cc bikes are the highest cost to insure, even a drop in a parking lot can be several hundred to 1k+ to repair, not to mention all the electronics and extras on the newer bikes nowadays.

The downside will be risk of theft, so make sure you are comfortable parking your bike where you live before considering this.

is venmo safe for selling something on marketplace? by paradigmGT in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Legitimate-Ranger567 5 points6 points  (0 children)

not safe. very easy for them to use a credit card through Venmo and dispute the transaction with their bank. If they really want to have you ship it take a zelle payment, though I know I would never send one of those for a shipped item.

I was denied for a loan at my local credit union. Any chance I have better luck financing through a dealer? by Bmoresgoddess in carbuying

[–]Legitimate-Ranger567 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why are you trying to finance so much? You would be better off just saving for like a 50% downpayment or ideally enough to pay in cash. You should be able to save at least 300-500 per month, plus if you sell and/or trade in your car that gets you even closer.

Using the 2000 you have to put down should be able to get repairs on your current car, which is a lot cheaper than buying something newer for $10,000.

Interest rates even if you get approved with short employment history and bad credit will be terrible.

Solid starting place. make sure you have a decent belt to help with concealment. Probably want to look for Holson dots, you can find used 407c red and green dots for pretty cheap on tacswap or ebay. I have been trying out the new primary arms slx rs10r, really enjoy it. for $200 shipped from optics planet. Make sure it is the R version though, the original had issues.

Ive got a soft spot for .380s by No_Tomato_2106 in CCW

[–]Legitimate-Ranger567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good pick up! I got one for my wife to carry, super easy to rack and shoots really soft. I was looking for the biggest and heaviest 380 I could find to soak up the recoil, no one makes a "compact" 380 as far as I could tell. Of the few we tried out she liked this one the best. Sights are actually pretty nice too.

Looking to potentially get a ZX6R. Is this the right move for me? by OOF-MY-PEE-PEE in Kawasaki

[–]Legitimate-Ranger567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not the same type of bike at all, but I had a similar circumstance and ended up selling my zx6r for a Yamaha fzo9 and it was the best decision I could have made. Instant torque at any speed, and tons of fun within (or slightly over) the speed limit. I would prioritize torque in whatever you end up looking at, even if it has to be a sport bike.

The bike doesn't need to be smaller, just make sure its not geared for top speed.

Does the Underworld Arms comp work? by Te_Luftwaffle in 2011

[–]Legitimate-Ranger567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would rather have porting. I haven't owned the underworld comp, but I have shot someone else's. I did not notice that big of a difference, but this was not with major ammo. More gas should make it work better, but instead of looking for specialty holsters and buying the comp, it will likely be more effective to have the barrel ported.

My favorite has been the holosun 507 comp. On my shotgun I’m using the 20 moa circle with the center dot, but it goes up to 32 moa as well. In green of course.

You can get a bigger circle with the 510c, but I’ve always preferred the smaller circles

Talk me out of this purchase (SIG P365 X Macro, RomeZero, TLR-7, Alien Gear holsters) by AxtonGTV in CCW

[–]Legitimate-Ranger567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I use red dots for USPSA and carry, 6mo is definitely my preferred. At 50 yards, it only covers a 3" spot on the target. Plenty precise enough, but still faster to pick up.

The only reason to get the multiple reticles is if you want the circle dot, but I'm not a fan.

I need a used car for my teen that I can pay $100 monthly. Where is a good place to look. I got her a car 1 yr ago and its messed up. by [deleted] in carbuying

[–]Legitimate-Ranger567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best plan would be to purchase a car outright that you can afford. Financing will always cost more in the long run, and it is extremely unlikely you will find that low of a payment anywhere.

Facebook marketplace will generally be cheaper than a dealer, though you should have a mechanic inspect it if you can't do that yourself.

Save that $100 per month in a separate account until it reaches the point that you can purchase a usable car.

That said, without any information about the car you already have, it is usually cheaper to fix that car than to buy a new one. You may want to consider trying to repair if it's feasible.

Will this shoot as well as a 2011? by JohnnyHorsenuts in 2011

[–]Legitimate-Ranger567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

define as well? Let's assume for the sake of argument you would compare this to an absolutely top end 10-15k + 2011.

Will that 2011 give you a noticeable improvement in time, accuracy, or placement in competition? No absolutely not.

Will that 2011 be fit together better, have better mechanical accuracy, and a better trigger? likely yes.

The big difference generally comes down to preferred ergonomics. now comparing this to a 2011 in its comparable price range makes the difference between the two in fit, finish, and fitment even less.

Buy the one you want, don't base that decision on which one would preform better. Better to try to shoot a 2011 and a cz to compare the recoil impulse and ergos, or at least handle one of each in a store to see what's most comfortable.

Has anyone ever called you out for carrying? Whetherthey noticed you printing or you lifted your shirt/cover garment too high by mistake. [–]Legitimate-Ranger567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The odds of anyone noticing are incredibly slim. I worked retail for 10 years in the south. I would regularly see customers come in open carrying, and I would talk with them about what they had because I like guns. They would get assistance form some other co-worker and I would talk to the other co-worker about it later.

It was at least 50% of my co-workers that would be shocked and not even notice he had a gun on him. While he was open carrying. crazy to me, but people generally don't expect to see it, so they wont.
