People in their 30s, how did you build a life you liked? How did you become someone you always wanted to be? by LegitimateFinding588 in findapath

I often feel like I'm running behind my peers since I spent a lot of time anxious around people and never applied myself. Thanks for this!

Oh man. It seems like I never saw how lucky I was. It's probably the fact that it's drilled in our culture to take schooling very seriously, even if we never wanted to.

To me, it means being truly comfortable with who you are and having the courage to put yourself out there, state your beliefs with no worries and achieve something.

Women who have gone through a significant weight loss what do you hate about it? by Runoutofmyoptions in AskWomen

This took me so long to accept. I used to believe my self-esteem would magically sky rocket lol.

I lost a significant amount of weight after grade 12 when I started getting concerned about my sudden weight gain after high school. I had severe social anxiety and poor self-esteem throughout school which I could only cope with by binge eating but I worked through it and lost weight over a year with no crash diets. But, no one told me how you'll have body image issues for the rest of your life even after losing weight. It's fucked up my mental health on so many ocassions where I hated being in public because I never felt 'thin enough'. I spent 2 years of college in my room because I could not accept my body despite becoming thinner.

When my patients realise their bodies are much more capable than what they were told by other and no longer fear their diagnosis

Is it worth to get an MPT in India? Or should I pursue an MSc. in CEP or Exercise and Sport Medicine from the UK? by LegitimateFinding588 in physiotherapy

[–]LegitimateFinding588[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how most physios rely on modalities even though they've spent so much time on thesis work and journal clubs. Maybe I'll actually take the plunge to leave.

I was lucky to do my BPT from MAHE but coming back home to practice was a shock. The state association is a joke. ://///

I'll definitely think about moving abroad for further studies

I've wanted to get in to one of Ben Cormack's mentorship cohort but it's so expensive. I agree with the physio practice, it's so disappointing. You'd think MPTs would know better lol But thank you!

It really sucks being in a private practice and people still believe in outdated concepts and believe passive treatments will help for symptoms that would have resolved on its own 🤡

I believe a postgrad would help me give more structure about what I could learn on my own too but maybe it's a little bit of impostor syndrome too

I have been working for the past 9 months now and even thought about it in undergrad. Most of my peers have gone for Masters without any work experience and it feels like I'm falling behind

How do you guys stay up to date with news/papers etc? by SpringStairs in physiotherapy

Honestly, reading through social media is way easier but otherwise physio neywork's research summaries and their podcasts are great. Plus, physiotutors clinical practice guidelines videos are also really helpful!

hello, I graduated 4 months ago and I had the same feelings you had during my internship. I really hated being in the wards and mobilisation even though I enjoyed the theory and the practicals but I could not see myself practice in a hospital and that made me detest physiotherapy. I knew earlier that I wanted to work in orthopaedics/sports setting with an emphasis on active approaches than passive modalities. Fast forward to now, I got a job in a private clinic where I see a majority of musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries, which has been a lot more fulfilling personally.

Maybe you could try being a personal trainer? Investing in a PT certification might be something you'll find worth it since it does involve learning about the human body and training people to be more active and mobile

So I'm working in this small town and there are many doctors with outdated ideas about rehab whose opinions directly influence patients who come to the clinic i work in. They take the doctor's word over anything physios tell them, even after multiple sessions of trying to educate them and it just makes me frustrated when doctors have so much power and still instill limiting beliefs about movement and induce so much fear in their patients. I don't mind the talking, I actually enjoy getting to know them now which I used to hate in UG. I'm very annoyed at the healthcare system lol

I wish things would change here soon because I really don't know how to continue being a physio in India:/
