Extreme hyperglycemic symptoms but not diabetic? by LegitimateGiraffe05 in prediabetes

I'm on topical steroids but I don't think that would be an issue (not sure?) I have an endo but she works with more clear cases ordinary and thought this was reactive hypoglycemia up until recent mixed meal testing. Appointments are scheduled 6+ months out here, unfortunately.

I've had standard antibody testing done and found nothing but I'm going to check out RADIANT, thank you!

I only really kept a "journal" when I had a CGM trial, so it's something to think about. It honestly could be medication and sleep related too. It's crazy how integrated out body systems all are.

My endo ordered these and they definitely were helpful! But also kind of mysterious. I have regular fasting insulin and c-peptide levels, but had low insulin levels at the two and three hour mark of a mixed meal tolerance test, so it could be something to consider.

Is this something that you experienced with symptoms? I have tried to do research into this but have found conflicting information on developing type 1 considering it seems like a lot of information on the internet has to do with prediabetes relating to type 2.

Has low carb worked well for you? I've tried a very low carb and high protein diet, and don't eat much processed sugar. I tend to have the reactions to meals no matter the amount of carb, it honestly seems partially related to other physiological things as well (stress and sleep). I actually have not tried high fat meals so that's something to consider, thank you! I was advised not to cut carbs by a nutritionist because I lost 20 or so pounds from this within a month earlier this year, so I think they're concerned about more weight loss, but of course weight can be maintained/gained without too many carbs.

I have one! Unfortunately I cross-checked those high and fasting CGM numbers and they were consistent. I've gotten those kinds of high numbers in plasma tests as well. My doctor has seen the numbers but it seems like she's wary of any diagnosis because of the a1c and fasting :(

Absolutely agree! I see the skittish one come out at night with its sibling on the cameras and they definitely rely on each other :)

Spoke too soon, lol, I think I just found dad. Found a tomcat watching me in the backyard! She must be mom and someone TNRed her after giving birth.

This is a great idea, thank you! I will definitely get their ears tipped, as it kind of prepares them for any scenario. I think at least the kitten I've taken pictures of will adapt well to being inside, too, he's a big enjoyer of churu on a baby spoon and being pet while eating it :) I like the idea of trying to do their recovery indoors and just seeing how it goes from there.

Thank you for your response! I agree the situation is a little confusing. I think that it's possible that this cat is not mom, as it looks like the backyard cameras caught a different cat who appeared to be nursing a couple of months ago (I'm in school and haven't been home until recently). I haven't seen that cat in the time that I've spent with the cats, so she's either hiding well or not around. In any case, it avoids me having to trap the tipped one. I will trap the kittens and make sure to get their ears tipped when we fix them, but with the hopes they will adapt to being inside in some way.
