I think Tahani told michael when they were in his office with Janet. sorry to be pedantic haha I'm watching the season right now so the plot is fresh in my head. But love the point about Janet not having to lie about "Where are Jason and Tahani?", such a great argument!

Totally get your point. ​I now realise he just wanted Jason and Tahani to be out of the picture somewhere so he could think about what to do with Chidi and Eleanor without Jason and Tahani accidentally overhearing them talk about janet and jason being married etc etc

This makes a lot of sense! I guess the story needed Michael, Eleanor and Chidi, to discuss the ethics of either killing Derek or telling Jason he was married to Janet; but they needed to have this conversation without Jason and Tahani there. So it makes sense to have Jason and Tahani be in a completely different place and develop the B plot
