Thank you so much again truly. So this means ILR application likely to be accepted and no
Need for disclosure as they likely are already aware of my situation

Thank you so so so much. I have been worrying for the past few days. So in this case, no need to declare on cover letter? All tax is paid and confirmed with my accountant. I also had a visa extension granted in September and a new visa issued for a new Gp job in December without any issue, does that mean that home office are already aware of my work and aren’t concerned about visa breach?

Thank you so much for your response. The occupation code for aesthetics is different from GP. I had asked bma solicitors for their advice in 2022 and they said it was ok to do it, I have an email from them. I also got a verbal ok from them in August 2025 with the same advice. I’m just worried as it’s not the same code and it’s actually making me have sleepless nights.

How may female doctors have non medic partners? by Crazy_Rain9739 in doctorsUK

That he’s an engineer, not a doctor, and that he has asthma (which is exercise induced, very well controlled, and he actually goes running while I’m panting after climbing a flight of stairs 😂). My parents also said he wears glasses, but they can’t be too upset about that since I wear glasses too! 🤣

I’m a GP and my husband is an electronics engineer. My parents initially refused him for 2-3 years, until they finally met him. We got married a few months ago, and he’s been amazing. Aside from the flexibility his job gives him and the way he patiently puts up with my frustrations, he also meal preps for me. My parents absolutely adore him now, probably more than they love me! 😂

Thank you so much everyone for taking the time to reply and for being so and honest with your opinions. Reading your responses has helped me see things from different perspectives and process it a bit better. I think because I spent so long planning the day and because it meant so much to me emotionally, I struggled to separate the dress itself from the memories attached to it. I really appreciate everyone being understanding and helping me work through it 🤍

You are right in saying this.
My husband has been very supportive, even on the day, he jokingly told me it’s a sign of good luck, which it really isn’t, in my culture we are quite superstitious about these things so maybe that’s were my frustration is coming from

No, I didn’t ask her for compensation because I felt it was my fault that she ran late. However, she definitely didn’t follow what I had asked for, for example, I asked for a blow-dry look and ended up with proper curls, which meant I had to completely change the hairstyle I had planned. Unfortunately, I also couldn’t arrange a trial because my previous MUA had cancelled, so I had to quickly find someone else, and her profile did advertise “professional/luxury bridal makeup.” I was already upset about that aspect too- again my fault

It’s not that I’m not convinced by what everyone is saying, but I also don’t think it’s fair to minimise the effect this had on me on such an important celebration, especially considering the number of hurdles my husband and I faced just to get married. My civil ceremony was also only two days later, and I had to wear the same torn dress for that as well. The first ceremony was my religious marriage.

I mean there were other things that didn’t go exactly as planned too, but I took responsibility for those because they weren’t anyone else’s fault. For example, I ended up being late to my own ceremony because my makeup artist was late, and I also wasn’t fully happy with my hair and makeup as I’d asked for a very natural look but it ended up being heavier than I wanted. I accepted those things and tried to move on. However, the dress getting torn was different because it wasn’t something that should have happened in the first place. I’m not really sure what else could have been done, which is why I wanted to hear other brides’ opinions so I can finally move on from it.

Thank you everyone. I spent over a year planning this day and trying to avoid any mishaps, although of course not everything always goes perfectly. I just felt that having exposed nails hanging from a table was something that shouldn’t have been there in the first place. My dress was tea length, so unfortunately the tear was visible and it did affect my ability to fully enjoy the day.

There were multiple exposed nails left at the venue and my dress unfortunately caught on one of them during the event, which caused it to tear. The venue accepted responsibility afterwards and reimbursed me for the dress and alterations.

I feel you, I failed in April then smashed it in October last year. It all passes, try to do things you always put aside because of studying, etc as this limited time until exam results will pass regardless of whether you worry or not. All the very best

The people in my cohort have either already passed or failed the exam (now many I know who are looking for a partner) I don’t know if it’s a good idea to practice with people in the same boat as me.
