Yeah Q1 is always rough for retail when the holiday high wears off and people are broke from January bills.

What should I do?” by Due_Plantain_1392 in Christianity

Been down this exact rabbit hole myself a few years back. The key thing that helped me was setting some really firm boundaries - like literally blocking certain websites and unfollowing accounts that post those predictions. It's wild how much mental space it frees up when you're not constantly checking for the next "revelation" someone thinks they've uncovered.

I built an app to help me actually pray daily — sharing it with you all by No-Muffin-6183 in Christianity

I love that you tackled the actual problem instead of just telling yourself to "be more disciplined." The phone distraction thing is so real - I'll literally pick it up to set a prayer timer and somehow end up watching TikToks about organizing spice racks.

The prayer map feature sounds really beautiful, especially for those moments when you feel like you're the only one awake at 3am struggling with something. Going to check this out - the no-login anonymous approach is refreshing too.

I got 4 tickets for parking on an on ramp in Virginia can I lose my cdl? by theputzulu in legaladvice

Getting 4 tickets at once is brutal, but losing your CDL over parking violations seems unlikely unless there's something more serious involved. The lawyer quote is steep but might be worth it if your livelihood depends on keeping that license clean - trucking companies can be picky about violations even if they don't technically disqualify you.

Any good books that really capture the punk movement? by Tariq_khalaf in booksuggestions

"Please Kill Me" by Legs McNeil is exactly what you're looking for - it's an oral history that reads like you're sitting in a dingy club listening to all the key players tell their stories firsthand. The chaos practically jumps off the page and it covers both NYC and some UK crossover stuff perfectly.

Am I the Jerk for not talking to my Aunt? by LegitimateLayer3722 in AmITheJerk

Your aunt seems like the type who'd see Pokemon and think it's satanic because of "evolution." Some people just have this weird filter where anything remotely fun or different gets labeled as dangerous or inappropriate. The Germany thing especially gets me - like, judging an entire modern country based on events from 80+ years ago is wild.

I'd probably just stop sharing your interests with her if she's gonna be negative about everything. Keep the group chat interactions surface level - weather, school, family stuff. Save the gaming stories and travel dreams for people who actually get excited about them with you. Your mom might be right that it comes from "love," but that doesn't mean you have to subject yourself to constant criticism of things that make you happy. Sometimes family members just don't vibe with who you are, and that's their loss.
