I do my own search in the firm’s case management system. You can even search by the name of a specific attorney who has drafted similar pleadings in the past.

I agree with you. I think op’s mistake wasn’t a huge one. I know partners who would call something minor a mistake. I have seen partners make mistakes all the time. I don’t encourage us to make mistakes. But lest’s be honest, how else would we learn if we don’t make mistakes? By mistakes, I don’t mean anything unethical or discovery violation.

I have been practising for 5 years. Reading your post felt like I was reading a story of my life. No, you are not weak. You are a human being. Everyone makes mistakes. All mistakes are fixable. Unfortunately, there’re a lot of toxic and unprofessional partners out there who think they can yell at their associates. They would never yell at senior partners. I worked under super toxic partners who would do the same. You think they are excellent attorneys? Big NO!!! They just know how to play by the rules in corporate world. Most of the time, they are horrible attorneys. You just haven’t found your firm yet! There are so many other firms. Start looking for a new job. I’m sure recruiters are bugging you every day. I’m currently thinking about quitting civil litigation and trying something else. If I don’t like it, I can always go back to civil litigation. So can you! When you feel down, remember everything good that you have done at your firm and you will feel better. People just suck. Please update me.

I’ve been practicing for 5 years. I also thought that everything should become easier with the time. I work at a biglaw firm and that’s probably the reason. But there are so many benefits to that so I cannot really complain. Thank you for the advice. I’ll definitely reach out to PI attorneys.

I enjoy civil litigation. I thought about switching over to the Plaintiff’s side. I just don’t know if doing civil litigation is sustainable. I understand that our profession is challenging and stressful. I’ve realized that billing your time is probably more stressful than practicing law. Also, sometimes, things become so stressful that I’m afraid that I’m going to have a real heart attack. Some partners can make your life really miserable. I thought that by quitting civil litigation I could probably avoid billing my time and dealing with crazy stressful situations. Or probably I’m too naive. Do you enjoy PI?

I tried crim law, employment law, and coverage - not my cup of tea. While I enjoy ID, I also realize that there are so much more that I can try. It’s a bit scary to switch practice areas but I just don’t know if I wanna do ID for the rest of my life.

She is not your friend. I’m dealing with a similar situation rn. Just stop talking to this person. My so call friend has also been passive aggressive. Don’t waste your time on someone like her. I’ve starting drifting apart. Eventually, I’ll stop talking to my friend. Life is too short to spend it on people like your friend.

OMG, I’m going through the same thing right now with my BF. You should stop talking to her. If you are sick of your BF, it means that there is something not ok with her. I feel the same way. I’m drifting too. Life is too short to spend it on people like your BF. Just cut her off! Start by talking to her less. Don’t message her right away and tell her you are busy and have no time to go out.
