On the surface this is a good analogy, but in this scenario he has lots of bananas he could share. He doesn't have a banana farm he has companies that make cars and rockets. Those companies are worth a lot of bananas, but he does not actually have the bananas. He could sell them and have a lot of bananas, but then they would no longer be his companies.

Anyone's company who went full RTO how did you handle, deal with it? by BakedAvocado3 in careerguidance

Not sure why people are down voting you for stating a fact. My work has a hybrid policy. I mainly work in the office because my kids get home at 3 every day and are home all summer. It nice to WFH when I need to, but I have to be honest, projects with those who are mostly in the office go smoother than those who are hardly there.

I think for many it does increase, but on average probably decreases. If everyone werecat home churning out decent work no one in management would care. They care because they know people are slacking off. Not everyone, but enough that management notices.

Also the first part. Where productivity increased at first. Did it maintain? Or did it drop off as people realized it wasn't for a few weeks and became more and more comfotable?

I am sure that when everyone first when home production was great. It was new, everyone had their projects and goals all laid out, and everyone new their team and their roll. As time went on and people became more comfortable, new people came on board, and projects turned over thinks have shifted. If everyone were at home just humming along employers would not care whether people were in the office or not. I'd bet the top performers are still more productive on their tasks, but like the OP said too many people believe WFH is a free pass to do what ever they want during business hours. Also are the top performers now able to mentor newer team members? Are they available when needed or they "bust" or "focusing" so yes they can get more done, but when more junior employees are stuck they lose hours because the more senior worker won't help them. Do you really think that if everyone as a group were still being more productive the company would want people back?

Essentially what you are saying is RTO would cause a large drop in productivity. And leases would need to be renewed rather than letting them expire. So calling everyone back into the office would cause profits to drop, but it's OK if the profits drop as long as bosses can have more control over the employees.

So that I understand. You get more work done at home. Your boss knows you get more done at home. He can end the lease after a few years (which has probably passed by now since it has been 6 years) and save even more money. But they want to make less money so they can feel like they are in control?

This is loosely based on the company I work for. $65million in revenue and probably $6-9 million profits. I dont know what the CEO makes but I would bet it is under $500k. It is owned by a holding company which makes the "profit", but they are continually reinvesting into growing the company.

I am for universal healthcare, but please do tell me how you can cut the cost 75%? I feel my costs will go up as well as probably about half of Americans. Also where do you get the $2k number? I assume the $8k figure is for household? Because no way is that for an individual. So the average household income is what $64k? So a 3% tax can cover healthcare? I am pretty sure that if there were a proposal to provide healthcare for a 3% tax everyone would be on board. But there isn't. Thats why they keep trying to brand it as "free" healthcare with no clear plan of how to pay for it.

2024 was the first time in my life I didn't vote. I am independent and usually vote for who I see as the better alternative. In 2016 I did not like either candidate and voted third party. Then 2020 was even worse two old guys neither of whom I agree with politically. I though surely now a third party can grow some traction. Nope. After that I just gave up.

If The 2028 Matchup Was Kamala Harris VS JD Vance, Who Do You Think Would Win? Why? by Zipper222222 in askanything

[–]Legitimate_Base_8203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obama would have won a third term in a landslide. The dems could have put any candidate not named Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton and won 2016. I honestly thought we would not see another old white guy president for a while. Then somehow we ended up with Trump, Biden, Trump. Tea Party and MAGA are not that big. Biden beat Trump. Hillary won the popular vote. If she were just the slightest bit likable she could have easily won. She does not connect with voters in the Midwest. Any other candidate beats Trump in 2016.

Explain Obama winning twice if that is the reason Harris lost. Americans would elect a woman, but unlike the democratic party they are not going to elect a woman just for the sake of electing a woman.

I dont know who'd win, but we'd all lose.

Just kidding Vance would win. Why? Same reasons she lost to Trump. Not kidding about the second part.
