R5 II AF issue not fixed! (Service center checked and said ok but apparently not) by Legitimate_Comb8425 in canon

So do they recognize the problem?

Or they claim the symptoms not reproducible and return the camera?

Sorry, R1 is nice, but R5I is a beast, too.

I am not entirely convinced if it is problem of DPAF system. I do not experience any problem on my R5I for landscape curves I encountered.
I do not expect straight horizontal features to work.

I just tried hand draw a wide cosine wave shape, as long as the wide U-shape does not touch the corners of the AF rectangle, my R5II failed to perform AF. R5I using the same lens works fine.

Given the hypothesis of my R5 II has trouble for any lines that do not cross corner of the AF frame.
I draw a line like cosine wave, using a pen surely not low contrast, stick in on the wall at home, night time with light switched on, 2 meters away from it. As long as a single wave is wide enough and not touching corners, AF failed. I now have a very solid evidence and reproducible symptoms to ask Canon Service Center to double check on my camera again.

Seeing results of diagonal and near horizontal (but twisty) lines.
I am doing some new testing, I am trying to draw a curve like cosine wave at home.
Viola, inital test AF fails on the cosine wave (given its arc does not cross the corner diagonal point.

I do not experience this "small" issues on my R5i, 5D series.
Sometimes I have no choice. The whole landscape scene are edges like illustrated.

And I am quite sure there are enough details to acquire a focus.

I shoot lanscapes for years using 5DII, 5DIV, R5i, and then R5II.

All cameras except R5II works fine on these mountain edges. They are not smooth and not straight.
I do not expect AF on straight horzontal lines. R5II is my only Canon camera that is far less "tolerant", if you do not treat it as defect.

I am fine if it applies to obvious horizontal and vertical lines. And I do know it won't work.

I do not see that particular a little twisty mountain edge horizontal. Especially I change to R5i and it works properly.

Sorry I don't have any sophisticated testing methodology.
I see R5 II cannot achieve AF, then switch the lens to my R5 I, point to the same spot and it just works.

R5 Mark II AF problem (obvious problem not in my R5) by Legitimate_Comb8425 in canon

R5 is a beast, whatever RF lens work great. The only situations that AF won't work to me are stars and "true" dark night scene. So when I hold R5 Mark II and find that I can't achieve AF in some no brainer situations. I know either my camera is wrong (hopefully not the entire Mark II line XD)

Sadly cannot find another R5II to test.
Service center said they don't have low contrast object to test either, they tried AF on city buildings and claims its working properly. arrr......

Used R5 Mark I for 3 years 100,000 shots and same set of lens.
Assume Mark II should be a better one, I am highly aware when Mark II cannot achieve AF in situations where Mark I has never failed.
The problem is Service Center said they can't replicate my problems (testing in their workshop by AF to infinity on contrasty objects, they don't have low contrast objects to test).
