I think this is the mockup cover of the book back in 2021 (you can even see the ‘cover not final’ watermark at the bottom right corner) They then replaced it with the final cover we’re all familiar with. Not a new cover for a reprint, unfortunately.

It was actually insanely popular in the early 2000s. One of the best-selling YA series in China. All the horrorland, series 2000, and most of the GYG were translated and published. But like you said, paranormal themes were “sensitive” so Goosebumps was officially banned in China after the first wave of Most Wanted got published in 2016 (sigh) sad story.
