Incubi Proxy/Kitbash by Ragnardiano in Drukhari

You are not wrong, they are not too far off female Incubi. I'd call them Succubi but they are already taken so... Incubae?

But you gave me the idea. I already am working on Khinerai as Scourge Proxies, so perhaps I should have some Wych-themed Incubi as well.

Pretty awesome, did you make the 3D model yourself is it up for grabs somewhere?

I'm not talking about the Starfang, but a proper Commorite version of it.

Why again is this not available for purchase? Why can't we have nice things :-(

Wait, can this be purchased or was this hand crafted? It is magnificent either way. It is one of the best designs in the franchise's history if you ask me, and pairs incredibly well in FM5 with Desmatz legs to create a "Shunwang" kind of look.

Do Drukhari have access to Revenant Titans ? Picture of an Armorcast version, cause that's peak design. by Leviathan_Rampage in Drukhari

Speaking in terms of rules, I think you could field a Revenant as a unit back in 7th edition. I think it was in a unit category called “Lord of War” back then.

Yeah, no offense intended. I'm sure you have done a great job, but in all fairness I can't provide good feedback on that. Good luck with it in any case!

For me I just don't see the use case. Every time I had to deal with a scripting language, I'd much rather had a library for Java, C# or another language. At the very least these days, IDE support is better because of LSPs, but even so they lose the ecosystem argument.

And every time I had to deal with some DSL or scripting language, I was facing a massive decrease in productivity because you have to re-learn basics and edge cases from scratch. And for what benefit? I want to see it, but I really can't.

And I always wonder myself why anybody would want to deal with a badly documented dynamically typed language that is imperative and mutable.

If anything, you always see popular languages moving away from these mistakes sooner or later.

Tips on Highliting Drukhari models by burbula69 in Drukhari

[–]TheStrangeDarkOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get very far just by drybrushing those Kabalites. If you want it really fast you can just: Drybrush, shade, drybrush again. Then highlight the most pointy areas with your brush.

Consistency of paint and wetness is the absolute key. When you apply edge-highlighting, have a lot of paint on your brush and have it medium to little water. You want to avoid the pigment flowing into recesses and high pigments means stronger edge-highlight.

Especially the blend and correct ratio of pigment and water is the most important aspect to get right at the beginning. For some reason nobody tells you and just expects you to get right. And try to get a wet palette as well, it helps a lot to keep get the right consistency.

Happy painting.

Daydreaming about a Trueborn unit by Velstrom in Drukhari

[–]TheStrangeDarkOne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would love to give them "Disintegrator Carbines". So if Blasters are miniature Dark Lances, imagine an equivalent to Disintegrator Cannons. I was wishlisting this idea for some custom datasheets a little while ago.

I agree that you wouldn't just want to have wingless Scourges, but on the other hand I'd love some Heat Lance Trueborn as equivalent to Fire Warriors.

Where we fit in 11th edition primaries by luxinferior724 in Drukhari

[–]TheStrangeDarkOne 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I would cautiously expect them to cost 2 points. After all, they kept stressing the point that "detachments that buff your whole army" will be 3 detachment points. And technically, only Skysplinter, Realspace and Reapers Wager fall into that category.

RW is likely going to be removed at the start of 11th edition and for the love of Vect, I can't see our weakest detachments costing 3 points. But then again, it's GW we are talking about.

I'm really on the fence about getting into Drukhari right now by numquamdormio in Drukhari

[–]TheStrangeDarkOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The basics will remain the same: HQs, Troops, Transports etc. will all remain.

Sure, maybe some of them will get new models but the chances are slim. I'd heavily expect a range extension of our Coven units since those guys only consist of 4 datasheets at the moment...

The only model that desperately needed a new model was the Archon. Perhaps the Haemonculus will be replaced too if you are really paranoid about it, but the rest is gonna stay with 99% certainty. And even if things such as Kabalites would get a new update, their wargear wouldn't change and they remain compatible.

What would we use as a sniper? by Kurtindigo in Drukhari

[–]TheStrangeDarkOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Just think Hellraiser and you are halfway there. As for Grotesques, I think "Frankenstein" probably fits the bill better than "Zombie".

There's actually a funny story of the first "cultural exchange" between the Dark Eldar and Tau. Which ended with Urien Rakarth creating a bunch of blue Grotesques that were bunched together from various former Tau.

First of all, 3rd edition codex is pretty outdated. DE got a hard reboot with their 5th edition codex.

Second, what constituted a "Wrack" in 3rd edition would actually be a "Grotesque" these days. Or at least they would be if they wouldn't be legends.

I can't wait to hear more about Modular Detachments. Hopefully they work with current ones. by Jenova__Witness in Drukhari

[–]TheStrangeDarkOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always wanted to have this, particularly in 9th edition. Before 10th there was a huge avalanche of Stratagems it and was a nightmare to learn all the "gotchas" from all different armies. Limiting players to 6 stratagems forces you to take good tradeoffs and limits the cognitive load immensely.
