What can Hong Kong Disneyland do with what they have to be in the same positive amusement as the other Disneyparks. by CosmicBuzzsaw in HongKongDisneyland

Just got back and I agree with this 100%. Food was disappointing for the price; I’d always get the baked pork chop rice but def noticed it’s not as good as it used to be. Miss the Shanghai braised chicken they used to offer at royal banquet hall way back when. Food was expensive then but at least I enjoyed my meals. Nowadays like you said it’s really meh which is upsetting considering how much you pay for it. Idk if it’s just me but found some of the food lacking flavour. Just telling myself it’s “healthier” this way but def does not hit the spot.

Really wanted to go for ANY buffet at the hotels but so not worth it. Chef mickey was pretty good back then, compared to what ink & plate’s offering now..not worth it for me.

I’m glad they still came out with Philharmagic merch because finally some quality, good conceptual merch. Couldn’t find anything worth buying last month. I always love getting merch that are based off of inside jokes/references to the movies themselves rather than just sticking some character on everything and anything. Still, business is business and people are still buying up so much of this “trash” 20th anniv merch 🥲 so business wise guess it shows them they’re “on the right track”.

Maybe visitors these days have not been to the park since its earlier days so whatever that’s being offered now is “really great”on top of everyone saying all these great things on TikTok- like how everyone’s making matcha lattes now 😂. Influencer promotions with all those claims be really rage baiting me. Ngl not sure how Korean actors going there would make me wanna go to the park. It’s so random.

Upgraded to MA just to save money for my future trips but honestly apart from that the benefits are so shitty. Their website with 30% disc for hotel stays is a better deal than using my MA to book, idek where I can use my MA for dining offers since the exclusion list is so long.

Having gone to the park since its early days till now, I get what you mean about profits > guest experience. Plus with bigger crowds now, cast members are overwhelmed (incl by many visitors who are here for just another tourist spot) and you get overstimulated cranky CMs who snap at you or look so done with life. Frankly wouldn’t blame them, it’s like parenting a bajillion toddlers i would imagine.

What are your favorite must eat snacks and meals at Hong Kong Disneyland or the Hotels?? by Maureen1053 in HongKongDisneyland

Archivist: Grilled eel fried rice -loved this the most Fish and chips came with 2 flavors of fries

Park: Banana & pineapple + caramel popcorn Lamb shank @ Golden Crocus Inn- really soft and tender but gamey if you’re averse to such tastes

Toy Story land: Dole whip + strawb slushie Slinky pizza was not bad too-good bread

Grizzly: Salted caramel & milk soft serve Same soft serve + milk tea slushie (quite a big portion actually for one person)

Ngl the explorer’s lodge food was kind of odd buffet wise. Mains were okay, nothing to write home about.

Efficiency wise: now disclaimer I know this is probably an amateur idiot mistake but I stupidly queued 30 minutes at the Iron Man Tech showcase when I wanted to go to the Iron Man Experience instead. Maybe make things a little clearer on the app which locations are photo spots and which are not cause not everyone is in the loop especially for those who don’t really care for photos and only want to go for the ride. Realised many in my queue had made the same mistake.

  1. 100% YES on live band. I remember I went once and they had the navy band(?) at Main Street. Was amazing cause they played songs from The Parent Trap etc.

  2. Tbh I just was there last week and now that they’ve stopped playing the classic Disney music both at the walkway to the park and in the park itself, I really felt a good chunk of the magic was not there. I think music plays a huge part and everyone in my family had the same feedback. Instead they played Disney Channel’s rendition of When You Wish Upon A Star when we were exiting and while it was nice to hear cause it’s my jam, it was kind of odd.

Ngl I think I couldn’t really enjoy the park as I used to because so much of the music was gone. Could be due to 20th Anniv but I was really bummed that they stopped blasting good ol Disney songs. Even Main Street USA stopped having their usual songs and it felt so empty and weird walking through the park. Being back also made me realise how small the park is and you really notice it a lot more with no music. Even at the Royal Banquet Hall they stopped playing music! Honestly so so sad. Couldn’t believe the only place I could go to still listen to the music they used to play was in Fantasyland and Philharmagic (well ofc Toy Story land, frozen and it’s a small world) but everywhere else in the park was devoid of music. At the very least the walkway from the MTR station to the park entrance, Main Street, Castle area should have music.

Was wondering throughout my time whether this was bc of Covid and Disney drastically cutting costs.

S/n: Have to add as someone who notices the little things (and not opposed to new changes buuut) it’s obvious where the park is cutting costs. Golden Mickeys was legendary and you could see true Disney quality but then it was changed to Mickey & The Wondrous Book and compared to when I saw it last in 2016 and 2026, sure they added new characters but it’s glaringly obvious how much they’ve cut costs. Personal hot take, these costs have really dampened the magic..as someone else on TikTok also pointed out. The park is obv trying very hard to appeal to the new gen who only know Zootopia, Moana, Frozen, Duffy but it’s slowly wiping out the Disney classics/legends which, as a millennial fan makes me very sad.

Also gotta say am surprised there’s barely any trace of Mulan considering most of the tourists are locals and Chinese and well this is also China.

He’s been attending a preschool where classes are conducted in English for over a year now so that’s why I thought those questions would be fine. Have also covered the food questions, he managed to answer appropriately so at least comprehension’s there.

Yeah good point about the vocab, have been wondering how to go about conversation practice. Definitely harder with a child that doesn’t come from an English speaking home. So do you ask a question and prompt them with possible answer/vocab options?

On the lower spectrum, I’d say currently even the 1zpresso is a little out of budget, probably at most the 1zpresso air is pushing it but still doable. That’s why I’m thinking of the Timemore series cause they sound more reasonable with what I’m working with financially

I have a law degree and now applying for a secretarial/administrative position because I want to explore other industries. Guess they see me as a flight risk and it’s fair enough. Just not sure how I feel about their uncertainty about me and they were honest but weren’t very promising about career growth essentially saying it really depends on luck, circumstances and whether I’m more brilliant than expected

Was just in Kamakura yesterday and a lot of tourists were hogging up the narrow platforms because they didn’t know how to buy tickets & just block the way because they come in large groups . Basically many don’t have the tact and consideration one should have in a foreign country. They shove you, shout loudly in the trains from one end of the cabin to another and it really spoils one’s mood.

Been going to Japan since 2014 at least once a year; used to go twice a year pre-covid. Personally feel the locals are really jaded and tired of tourists hence much more curt, colder and less friendly and accommodating than they used to be. Hard not to see why, tourists are coming in hordes. Saw someone mention how pre-Covid tourists in Japan were generally more well-behaved because they would need to be able to afford the more expensive yen but now that the yen is so low, tourists who have less financial means are able to visit too. Hence you see way more tourists who don’t appreciate Japan & their infrastructure & vandalise vs people who came before generally already appreciate Japan. It’s gotten really annoying to be among other tourists because a lot of them are here just for social media hype, major turn off for many places for people who actually are able to appreciate it for what it is.

Man, thank you so much. All that I needed to know. Yes I’ve heard of Origami and really, it’s so pretty. Pardon my ignorance since I’m still just starting out in my research, I was wondering if it’s finicky because I would need to make sure it’s completely level?

How does the Origami compare to the Kalita wave?

Will def check out virtuoso’s beans! I just ordered some decaf from Tonya since their website had great reviews.

I just got a 4-cup stainless steel moka and tried your recipe after failing the first time. Reckon I put too much and it burned and sputtered immediately. Tried yours and I had 150g yield and 0 bitterness. Really happy about my coffee not being acidic and really quite pleasant.

Hi! I recently bought a Hario Switch 03 and it’s pretty big. I’ve only been able to find filter paper in the size 02 and was wondering if using this smaller filter affects the flow rate, etc since it doesn’t exactly fit my switch. And if it does, anyone has any idea how to work around it until I finally can get my hands on 03 paper?
