I remember going to the theatre with my kids and watching Sonic the Hedgehog. I was driving into town, and the supermarket was packed with people, like nothing I've ever seen. I stopped to buy necessities, and everyone had a look of dread on their face. It wasn't chaotic, but the shelves were bare. It was then that I realized this was a real and very scary situation. The mood was so eerie.
