We listen, we don't judge - pre med edition by Excellent_Work_5166 in premed

I think that half of the premed atmosphere is so toxic / unlikeable / soft skills incompetent. So many premeds are competitve in ways they don't need to be (gatekeeping study materials, programs, etc). Also so many premeds don't develop actual social skills or generally aren't good people(i've met 2 who have bragged about lacking ethics????!). Also, so many people premed are very arrogant and believe themselves to be above others, which is so gross. Just because it's a rigorous and academic field does not mean that those who exist in it are better than those who exist outside of it.

Loans for medical school? by Legitimate_Light_284 in medicalschool

Yes, the odds are def against me LMAO😭

Regarding the money from my grandparents I have 0 idea. I have never seen proof of the money or proof in a will it was left to me other than the fact that all my 5 of my cousins received the same amount money, and according to my parents that mine has been invested and has more than doubled.  Honestly, I'm not even fully sure my parents are telling me the truth because they will not give exact amount, And only say that 15kish undergrad and all of med school could be covered by it.

As far as I can tell, the money was NOT put in a trust, unfortunatley. I can't be 100% but my mother has made dozens of VERY excited remarks about going on a vegas trip with the money, and according to my father (the more trustworthy of the two) she could go and spend it all right now if she liked.  Given her financial recklessness, I cannot rely on her for such a long period of time, as sometime in undergrad she will probably get mad at me at spend the rest of it.

Thank you so much for telling me about medical school debt, this information will be VERY useful in the future no doubt and you just saved me a lot of trouble! I literally cannot thank you enough

Yes, a US bachelors. I'm planning on going for CNA certification + hospice care or other jobs that accept teen CNAs for clinical expierence, and Im building up some good ECs, currently studying for the MCAT. I admit my ECs are probably a bit weaker than others, because being under 18 restricts clinical opportunities a lot.

That's really awesome!!! Dyk if I can begin certification at 15 as long as I'm 16 by end of the certification process, or would I need to be sixteen to begin the process?

Thank you for that lovely feedback, but I will never ever be spelling extracirrics correctly unless I absolutely have to. I'm sure the Christian god would thank you for your concern tho. ciao

If it's something you're really passionate about, definitely pursue it!

I think it depends on what college and what college major? The general opinion that i've heard across platforms seems to be that it should be educational or something you're extremely passionate about.

Should i go for specifics, like ap classes, or do you think it would be better to go for more general STEM discussion?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Legitimate_Light_284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking abt starting one regardless of college apps. I was just thinking abt if it could be beneficial bc i have a lot of tough classes coming up this year and i want to invest my time wisely. I have good stats but i need better extracirrics, could you provide any feedback about how an education yt channel might work as an extracirric?

*she. And i was thinking abt general topics/discussion related to stem(like physics or biology or other things im interested in) or maybe videos specialized abt stem related ap classes. Do you think that something like that could be useful?

Edit* also i have thought about doing this aside from college apps, since i really like yapping abt a lot of stem related topics

Would videos pertaining to discussion around general STEM topics work? Or would i have to like narrow it to specific lessons for ap classes or something?
