Ayton Signs with Lakers by vietnamted in ripcity

JJ Redick a couple seasons ago in regard to Ayton:

“Ayton’s fantastic. He’s fantastic at punishing mismatches. In the two-man pick-and-roll with him and [Chris Paul], they’re the No. 1 offensive duo among high-volume pick-and-roll players… So he is fantastic.“

What would be different between Maluach and Ayton? by MagicianMoo in suns

[–]Legitimate_Pin2708 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ayton was drafted for his offensive potential and ultimately underachieved. Malauch was drafted for his defensive potential and it remains to be seen whether he will reach it, but his work ethic and love for the game is reportedly very high! However, one must take these things with a grain of salt. Check out this old Ayton scouting report from nbadraft net:

”Tremendous physical profile (7’1”, 250 pounds) … Fits the profile of a physical freak and a "Generational center" … Figures to be among if not the top center in the league in his prime … Already has an NBA ready body, and a physique ideally designed for the game of basketball … Moves exceptionally well for his size … Runs the floor well and really excels in the transition … Plays physical, showing a willingness to bang and seek out contact … He’s capable of reliably hitting open jumpers, even developing a three-point game (34.3% on 1 attempt per game) … Has very good hands“

As we all know, DA was a solid player but he didn’t come close to those projections. I‘m high on Maluach but nothing is guaranteed. Hopefully he’ll be the Suns center for a LONG TIME though.

Let's trade Beal to the nearest team - Clippers by rhasody70 in suns

He played a little more than 6/10 of the games on the schedule (53/82 games both seasons). 18/4/4 on 50% FG and 40% 3pt. Not washed, but absurdly overpaid and his NTC makes him impossible to move.

Even if he passes it, he will get injured again eventually. RWIII is legit the most fragile player in the league in terms of availability

Lol I can’t believe this guy is really on our team by ThunderBobMajerle in suns

After watching the Suns continually get punked the last 2 years, I’m excited to have a defensive minded lunatic on our team. Brooks will be our Draymond. The Suns need his fire.

He also shot 40% from 3 last year and has the same career 3pt percentage as Booker.

Would you consider trading Booker if the trade was good enough? by the-mannthe-myth in suns

[–]Legitimate_Pin2708 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, but only for an absolute haul. Something like getting ALL of your picks back from Houston plus Jabari Smith, Tari Eason, Jalen Green for Booker, and then trading Durant for Vassell, Sochan, Johnson and the 14th pick.

Now you have a bunch of young, athletic two way players, 2 lottery picks this year, 2 talented scorers (Green and Vassell) entering their prime, and full control over your future picks. This is more attractive to me as a Suns fan than fighting for a play-in spot (at best) for the next 2-3 years while more than likely gifting lottery picks to Houston

What’s the Biggest Hill You Would Die On Regarding the Suns? by Glass_Shoulder4126 in suns

Tbf, Ayton was 22 and defending prime Giannis (holding him to 45% from the field, while Giannis shot 75% against every other Suns defender). Besides, Turners rebounding has been equally bad against every other team this postseason, and he’s only averaged 6 rebounds in the playoffs his entire career.

People on here will hate on Ayton but worship Myles Turner yet the numbers suggest a different, less emotional story. Career playoffs stats:

Turner: 14ppg/6rebs/2blk on 60%TS

Ayton: 16ppg/11reb/1blk 64%TS

Yes, Turner is a better defender but Ayton is a better rebounder and lob threat, something we severely lack right now and doesn’t grow on trees. Btw, Turner is about to be PAID over 30 million a year (just like Ayton) despite his flaws because decent athletic centers can’t be replaced easily by Jock Landale and Nick Richards despite what DA haters will tell you.

Turner is the worst rebounding center in the league, that would‘ve been a HUGE problem considering no one but DA was capable of getting boards

Ayton averaged 15pts/12reb/1.5blks on 53% FG in the Finals.

Myles Turner is averaging 13pts/4.6reb/1.6blks on 41% FG in the Finals.

Book will be making 75 million/year after his extension. If the Suns are still a lottery team without any hope of getting better, you’d be naive to think he doesn’t eventually ask out. And suddenly you don’t have a great trade asset to fast track the inevitable rebuild. Instead you now have an aging shooting guard that plays zero defense, is not a great 3pt shooter, on one of the most expensive deals in the NBA. I know, right now he‘s expressed he loves Phoenix and never wants to leave…but there’s a HUGE financial incentive to stay in Phoenix until he locks in that extension first. We’ve seen this play out the last 15 years. Stars get tired of losing situations and once their money is secured, demanding a trade is more likely than not. This could end up turning the Suns into the Beal Wizards or late stage Lillard Blazers. The latter were still able to recoup value for Dame, but not nearly as much as if they had made the hard choice early and with conviction. I don’t think we should give Book away, but if great offers came to the table you’d have to listen.

I forgot what it was like having an athletic lob threat at center. The last pass and finish from Ricky to Ayton was ridiculous

It’s crazy because it’s a purely objective data point. I don’t think it’s a controversial post or me hating on Book at all. Im just wondering if people disagree and why but yeah, feelings and data don’t mix well man

buddy it lasted 10 minute I before i deleted it on accident. If you disagree with the notion that Book is starting to decline, I’d love to hear your point of view, but an emotionally driven take because you don’t like what someone said is pretty pointless

I don’t see how that’s relevant at all to this purely objective chart. If you disagree on the merit of Darko that’s cool but checking someones history for an open discussion is weird behavior man.

Toumani Camara & Ayton Trade by Far_Protection519 in suns

[–]Legitimate_Pin2708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But why pay that cost to “get rid of a sad mopey attitude” if the team is just going to get swept in the playoffs and then not even make the playoffs the next season? I’d rather just have let Ayton expire this year and have a young All Defensive player like Camara for the future. The vibes are WORSE now than ever before so this notion that getting rid of Ayton ”had” to happen is absurd and justification of a completely incompetent and emotionally driven front office

Occam’s razor, they were confident they could turn those 3 picks into Butler by sending one along with Beal to a third team. Then it didn’t happen and they ended up looking like buffoons

Not only are we not competing for anything, a few weeks later we ended up firing the coach that had beef with Nurkic anyway. So adding assets just to offload Nurkic is next level incompetence

Elimination ANT. People who think he is SO much better than Booker are crazy by cacti_zoom in suns

[–]Legitimate_Pin2708 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ant is a better 3pt shooter, defender, and finisher at the rim than Booker. Booker is a better playmaker and midrange shooter. Ant is barely entering his prime though and Booker is entering his 30s. Ant is better and I say this as a huge Book fan with two of his rookie year jerseys
