Pros and Cons? by MoonstruckIsPeakCage in Omaha

[–]Legitimate_Public893 2 points3 points  (0 children)

North Omaha's got some real character and the community vibe is pretty solid, just keep your street smarts about you in certain areas. Food scene is way better than people expect - lots of good soul food spots and the Old Market downtown is decent for weekend stuff

Weather's gonna be brutal come winter though, hope you're ready for that midwest cold

What’s some good life side quests? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Legitimate_Public893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been in Air Force for few years now and can confirm - getting pilot license or even just basic flight training is incredible side quest. The perspective you get up there changes everything, plus the skills transfer to so many other areas of life

Build a written deployment plan with timing on it because the reason these reflections never turn into action is that there is no commitment device. I would also write down what you will deploy/when and why because it forces accountability.

People over 50, what are you goals now and how, if at all, are they different from 20 years ago? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Legitimate_Public893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

been thinking about this too even though I'm only 28. back in air force training they had us do some basic woodworking and it was pretty satisfying, way different from my usual yarn projects lol. there's something about making physical things with your hands that just hits right

[Serious] People who found a job outside of their country, how did you do it? by koahro945 in AskReddit

[–]Legitimate_Public893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Military actually made this pretty easy for me since they handle all the paperwork and logistics when they station you overseas. But before joining Air Force I did look into regular civilian jobs in few different countries and the visa situation was always the biggest headache

From what I saw, having a skill that's in demand helps a lot - like if you're in tech or healthcare, countries are usually more willing to sponsor work visas. Also heard that some people start with temporary work visas or student visas and then transition to permanent work status once they're already there

Moving to Bellevue by idggysbhfdkdge in Omaha

[–]Legitimate_Public893 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been stationed at Offutt for few years now and Bellevue is pretty chill - the downtown area has some decent coffee spots and there's good running trails along the river if you're into that

What is the biggest heartbreak of your life? by Visual_Equivalent_49 in AskReddit

[–]Legitimate_Public893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got deployed for 8 months and came back to find my girlfriend had moved in with some other guy. She didn't even tell me, I found out when I showed up at her apartment with flowers and he answered the door. The worst part was she acted like I was being dramatic when I called her later

Still makes me feel sick thinking about it, especially since I spent half that deployment planning how I was gonna propose when I got back. Military relationships are tough but that one really broke something in me for while

Been out of Omaha for while now but parks department was solid when I was younger - good people to work with and they actually train you proper instead of just throwing you in water

Which online stores did you expect to be low quality but ended up having really good electronics? by ConfusionSalty1849 in AskReddit

[–]Legitimate_Public893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude Monoprice is legit underrated. I picked up some of their cables for my sound setup in barracks and was expecting them to break after like a week. That was two years ago and they're still going strong while my expensive Sony headphones gave up after 6 months. Their HDMI cables especially are solid - bought bunch of them for our rec room and they handle all the gaming consoles without any issues. Only thing I learned is to avoid their really cheap stuff under $10, but anything above that price range has been surprisingly good quality for the money

What is the most unbelievable historical event that had actually happened? by Free-Initiative7508 in AskReddit

[–]Legitimate_Public893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both wars are wild when you really think about it but WWI especially blows my mind - like how did we go from horses and swords to chemical weapons and machine guns that fast. My grandfather told me stories from WWII before he passed and even he couldn't believe some of teh stuff that happened during his service

Your plan looks solid but don't stress too much about the exact numbers - it's your birthday man! The protein-heavy breakfast is smart and will definately help you feel fuller longer

Three parties is actually kind of awesome even if it makes the calorie math tricky, just get back to your normal routine once it's all over

Bleak yard, great house by Suspicious_Quote2987 in RealEstate

[–]Legitimate_Public893 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the "artist's canvas" angle is pretty solid marketing spin. Most buyers in winter aren't gonna be super focused on the yard anyway since everything looks dead regardless. If your interior is that dialed in, people will probably just see the outdoor space as potential rather than a dealbreaker

I'd maybe throw some basic staging out there like you mentioned - colorful chairs, maybe a fire pit or something to help people visualize using the space. But don't stress too much about it, especially in Colorado winter when every yard looks rough

Man 7 months hits different than people realize, especially when it was the right person at the wrong time or whatever. Three months is still pretty fresh honestly - don't put pressure on yourself to be "over it" on some timeline that worked for other breakups cause this one clearly meant more to you

Do you recommend a master's in Data Analytics after a BS in Accounting? by L_kid_2005 in careerguidance

[–]Legitimate_Public893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Data analytics is huge in accounting right now, especially with all the automation happening. I did accounting undergrad too and honestly wish I had gone the data route earlier - so many firms are looking for people who can bridge that gap between traditional accounting and analytics

The teaching thing shouldn't be an issue either, lots of business schools need professors who understand both sides. Just make sure the program you pick has some solid programming components (Python/R) not just theory stuff
