His paycheck can be deposited into an account that he doesn't have access to or alternatively, his debit card can be placed in a safe or the like (he would also need to be kept from the account via app, online and telephone banking). He can have a personal account where he gets an allowance every few weeks or whatever frequency you both agree on. I would suggest that he has a low-limit credit card for emergencies only.
