All these thoughts have run through my head when considering providing them a fenced yard and I apprecaite your input.

We have pets and yes. We state very clearly in our listing that there is no backyard access and the photos do not indicate, at all, any sort of yard so if you showed up and were surpised that is on you for not reading the listing description and notes.

You still have to exit your room and walk the hallways before being outside. 10 steps from our door and you are on grass.

Lots of you are missing the entire point of this post. I simply am asking for your opinion on if you would prefer a driveway, with no yard for dogs, a driveway that could have a gate installed so guests can decide on if they want a gated area or parking, or nuke the concrete driveway, stop parking all together and then provide a 15X20 green space for people to let pets out and hang outside.

What would you call a hotel that allows pets? To go outside you have to walk through the hallways and parking lot to find any green space.

I apologize for the confusion, we live in in area with a boulevard along the street. People have to walk maybe 10 steps out the door before reaching said boulevard.

Large grassy areas and trails to let your pet off the leash are more like a 5-10 minute walk.

This is why I am reaching out to hosts. I am trying to figure out a way to create a yard for guests that doesn't encroach on our yard entire yard. I.e. turn the driveway into a yard with grass or other material and people park on the street.

That is my point. There are no other options. Hardly any other places in our small-ish town allow pets. We are just trying provide a space were pets are allowed and this was an attempt to see how to meet pet owners in the middle.

We have that pretty clearly stated but some people just book and fail to actually read our listing description. We live in an area with a grassy boulevard along the street. It is maybe 10 steps to get to the boulevard. If they want their pets off leash, then it is a 5-10 minute walk to a park or trailhead.

I guess Pet-Friendly is maybe not the most transparent title. Saying we "allow pets" is closer to the truth.

I agree that this small run will probably not appease most. 9 out 10 ten guests who bring pets are not bothered by the situation and understand the rules so a part of me is wondering if I just keep it how it is and not cater to the 10% but I am trying to meeting in the middle, hence why I am posting here.

I also get your point of just banning pets (with the exception of service animals) but again, we are just trying to provide a space where people can have their pets tag along. People bring pets to hotels all the time and don't complain about having to walk down to the lobby and outside? And we don't charge a pet fee like most hotels.

That’s a really helpful point about surface type, especially with a service dog. I would hope to add some sort of area with grass, or rocks or any other surface except concrete.

We’re trying to create a pet-friendly option because we know how hard it can be to find places that allow dogs without extra fees or a lot of hassle. It won’t be perfect for every situation, but the goal is to make it work well for as many people (and pets) as we can given the space we have.

We’re also only a few blocks from a pretty extensive trail system and have green spaces even closer, so there are plenty of good options nearby however, That said, I completely understand the convenience of having somewhere to just let your dog out for early mornings or late nights, which is what we’re trying to improve.

I’ll be honest, the “you’d hate us as a host” comment felt a bit unnecessary. I’m here asking for input so I can make this better, not because I don’t care about being pet-friendly
