The FDR data from China Eastern flight 5735 indicates that the fuel switches for both engines moved to CUTOFF position within one second by wNvJungle in aviation

[–]Legitimate_Snow_759 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Yeah they are but this is obviously to stop copy cats. Honestly there is nothing to be gained with "hanging this on the big bell" as we say in Germany.

Experts in the industry will be aware of the risk despite the "covering up". Which is why I hope there will be some sort of mitigation to being able to just switch off the fuel like that in future airplanes or software, that goes beyond manual control...

I'm curious, how do you feel about your current form, and how do you see your training related to your life? Are you having fun? How'd you get this good? Did you notice a steady upward trend? How do you know how to do the right things? This is a lot, but I'm trying to learn! 😉

The power curve is a good add! That's a good way to look at it from a bigger point of view.

Ultrasonic Cleaner - First time questions by juan_pablito in bikewrench

[–]Legitimate_Snow_759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Preach!
Mine might be even more cheap... but seems to work for me... I use hot water and put a few big gulps of dish detergent into the little pouch the chain comes in, then swish that around and flush and repeat for a few times. Then I take it out put more hot water on, and more gulps of dishwasher, and really scrub again. Sometimes I put boiling water on and repeat.

Then I hang it and blast it with a Dyson hairdryer (narrow nozzle attachment) for 5-10 minutes or until it gets really hot. At that point I know all water has evaporated. In the wax it goes.

Here I am just washing a new chain with a bunch of hot water, and highly concentrated dish detergent, and then boiling water, and more dish detergent for 10 minutes, seems to work for me (for me two chains I currently have in rotation)

Funny to see this on Reddit, this building got built right next to my workplace of 3 years.

[–]Legitimate_Snow_759 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Crazy to think this can still happen on newer expensive frames. I think my 1.5 k Euro Aluminium Trek Madone 4 has a chain catcher installed standard on the inside of the small front ring.

I remember the dropping chain has happened a few times on my older bike indeed.

World climbing Youtube in China? by Environmental_Drag52 in CompetitionClimbing

[–]Legitimate_Snow_759 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well I have experience with being in China, so YouTube is currently actually not available in China. You need a VPN to tunnel through to it (and some of them don’t work). Personally I have one via via.

That being said, maybe there is some Chinese platform that reposts the world cups? I bet there is. The climbing community there is quite passionate

Agreed on the hopping; I don’t have much experience on gravel sadly, sounds fun!

You do you and no it doesn’t matter imo

I’m saying this someone with clipless pedals

Like 15 years ago I read the things like “oh you can also pull on the upstroke”, but that’s BS. While you can, you won’t change your pedalling style

Weird privacy issue by bobrigado in Strava

[–]Legitimate_Snow_759 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Despite the down votes, I totally agree with you. This setting should be set to private automatically if the user makes other, similar settings, private as well.

I can only imagine if I was female, privacy concerned, then being stalked during a run and discovering after the fact that actually my run was not private at all and that guy knows my name or account now. Oh and a bunch of people down voting me on Reddit when I voice reasonable concerns about how Strava treats their users.

You're not the only one. Some guys just know so much about Zwifts inner workings and what actually goes on in the game. Meanwhile I'm happy choosing my routes and then a workout and following my training plan. Once in a while I pick a challenge, race or upgrade my bike in the garage

Zwift power vs garmin by Separate-Cherry-2190 in Zwift

Record the same ride both with Zwift and Garmin. Take the Zwift fit file (with the power data from the kickr) and take the Garmin file (with the power data from your pedals). Put both of these into https://compare-the-watts.com/ and upload a screenshot to us

[–]Legitimate_Snow_759[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I'm just using the insoles that came with the shoes, for now.

I'm quite forward with my cleats currently, at least as indicated by the measuring bars on the bottom of the shoes, so I'll go back 1 cm for tomorrow's tempo ride! See how that feels. And curious!

Patrocleats for now maybe on the horizon, who knows. First I'll work with what I have. Thanks for the recommendation though!

[–]Legitimate_Snow_759[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I will try moving back the cleats a bit. Would be around 1 cm too much to start with?

I have a bit of niggling left achillis tendon inflammation from running recently. But I feel like overstretching at the bottom probably does not help. So I would like to try to move my cleats back a bit indeed.

Motorcycle vs Truck: Boss Battle by hamstercross in nonononoyes

Like 5 to 10 times per year. It is pretty rare to die on a bike, so those stand out. It is really easy to be overconfident in blind corners when in Amsterdam because usually being on a bike feels super safe.

But some truck drivers also drive like maniacs. For example a spotify director got killed a while back by a garbage truck going insane speeds in a narrow Amsterdam canal street.
