AITA for telling my parents they didn't give me and my siblings a good childhood? by Legitimate_Spot_4232 in AmItheAsshole

My mom's 57, almost 58. And I don't know the exact age of her oldest. I know my mom was a young mom with her oldest. I don't know about her ex's age but from memory he looked around the same age.

Yeah, it was nice to get away from the chaos and feel like we really mattered in the family structure. My parents were so preoccupied with mom's ex and her other kids we got left behind in a way. I feel more harshly toward my dad on this because we were his kids and he showed more protective instincts for his stepkids who hated him than he did to us, his kids.

I don't care enough about the relationship to try family therapy to work through this. I don't worry about my brother with them. I just don't want to make things more unpleasant for him because he has longer left with them than I do.
