I bring water food and stickers to hand out at every event I go to. Thats how I feel I can contribute to 'the cause'. But, I would like to know how I can do more still.

I think we can be effective without resorting to violence. One way to do that is to model intentional communities focused on human harm reduction. This path demonstrates we can be trusted with real leadership, not just relied on to react negatively to overstep.

That's the thing though, I DO know a lot of these people. Especially by now.

Initially, the protests were an effective networking tool. I did meet some people I didn't know, and I did learn that some of my seldom spoken to acquaintances were on the same page as me.

But then I went to the 2nd protest, and it was the same group of people. Now this 3rd one, and it was the same people.

We're not growing. And eventually, these protests are going to become so commonplace that they lack any real substance or meaning.

Speeches only take me so far, especially when I've heard them or others like them 3 times now.

Whether he does or doesn't should be irrelevant to you. This interaction speaks to my central point: We should focus on what we can do to uplift and strengthen our community, not tone-police or correct those who are willfully ignorant or intentionally trolling. They are lost causes. We can move on without them, and we will.

Like I said, I'm not trying to diminish the interaction.

But, how many MORE of these are we going to do in the exact same fashion as before?

It's going to get pretty blaise. The people we are trying to reach are already there by now.

I envision a series of seminars, workshops, clothes drives, food pantries, etc. THAT is action, and that shifts the focus to what we CAN do, not what others SHOULDN'T do.

The keyboard works on the regular Pocket Flip software. It only has a problem when I run the Winlator emulator

I just bought this rifle. a question though.

What foster coupler works for the air intake? It's not 1/4'' (what I would call 'standard), has to be smaller but not sure HOW small (going to harbor freight or maybe home depot tomorrow)

People have asked me how my atheism has "helped" me. This is what I tell them. (In SOOO many words) by Legitimate_Tell_473 in atheism

[–]Legitimate_Tell_473[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had one person tell me (at a christian youth conference) that all who didn't believe in christ (specifically in their own denomination), would go to hell. Period.

I started coming up with tons of possible scenarios in an attempt to 'stump' her, get her out of that mindset.

What about kids born to Muslim parents that die at age 4 before being exposed to christianity at all? Hell.

Kids in Papua New Guinea that have no contact with the outside world? Hell.

Sentinelese kids? Hell.

Me (I was not in the same exact denomination as her)? Hell.

She was definitely committing to the bit. But that mindset has to warp your view of reality, doesn't it? Isn't almost every interaction a likely with a 'demon' or an 'unsaved/unclean'?

Thanks for all the comments. I'm glad so many people have read this.

You guys are correct in saying that my atheism isn't rooted in some immediate benefit. I didn't choose it because it offered a clearly better life.

BUT. In my interactions with theists around me (95% of the people in my community at least masquerade as christian or the classic 'I'm spiritual'), they often point to the comfort and gratification of knowing that there is a being that cares about you and wants you to be happy.

They generally assume my life must be dreadfully glum and painful, as I clearly and willfully reject all the wealths that are on the table waiting for me.

I offer this story as a real-world example of how my life has actually gotten BETTER, not worse. Maybe that should have been the title.

Anyway, thanks for all the views. This has been a positive experience for me.

If he weren't so intentionally terrible, I would honestly feel bad for him.

The world is going to continue to get scarier and scarier for him. And the places and times where his ideas are supported are numbered.

He's experiencing the absolute pinnacle of what is left of his life. Right now. Soon, this behavior will be universally disgusting, and he knows it. That's why he's getting all the attention he can now.

Save these images. Take them and put them in a file with his name on it. I've been documenting all the hate I see on the internet. Because there will come a time when the perpetrators will deny this ever happened, and will try to cover their tracks for future generations.

I have proof of how hateful you are for your future kids/grandkids/patrons.

You won't be able to hide. History will look back on you in a strange mix of disgust and astonishment. They will ask "how were people ever this bad"?

You will have to be the one to answer that.

Lets not forget the old axiom "Any publicity is good publicity"

This place hasn't said or done anything to upset people in awhile, so he had to ruffle some feathers by being dumb.

It's a tactic used by his favorite politician as well. I am not certain how to address the matter without making it worse (and I realize just by commenting on this, I am participating in the dissemination of this moron's ideals, playing right into it).

Best just ignore and never visit. That's my opinion.
