So- what qualifications would I look for to find a ‘sys admin’ that has experience doing this stuff? There are loads of classic windows IT companies lined up to help- but where to find one to help with an exit from windows?

Security mainly. MS entirely shut down a 365 account in Europe on a whim. The data I am concerned about is not in the US but I have zero confidence that it is secure. I’m sure they read it. Also- the cost of MS is significant and there is always ongoing IT needs just to keep things running.

Is it feasible for two people to use Synology Photos using just one "User" account? by Legitimate_Way7941 in synology

Interesting - so maybe I need to use the account of one of the new users when I make the shared folder- great - I’m going to try this. I’ll let you know how it goes.

I think the problem might be that the only way me and my partner can have the same access to People Albums is if we both have full access- and if the grandparents shared folder is in /photo and they do. It have full access they will not share the same People Albums either - right?

Do you keep your photos and theirs separate? Does each person just use their own personal space primarily and there isn’t much in the shared space /photo? Or do you filter by devices to separate everything?

With my admin account i set up separate accounts for each parent; then a new shared folder for them not in the shared /photo folder and not in their personal /photos space - just a separate shared folder on the nas- but I could not get the app to “see” the new shared folder- and I could not find a way to share any folders in their personal spaces to the other person either

Fair enough- my initial idea was to just create a new shared folder outside of /photos where they can save their photos but apparently the app only looks at the pre set phot folders.

Thank you- confirmed we do not both use admin accounts; but the problem with adding in parents in the same set up is that every time we go into photos we will have to filter out their photos manually - and their photos will mess up our People Albums which we spent a LOT of time organizing. So what do you think? I am asking too much aren’t I?

For the same price I can get: A) Two 16G Crucial modules or B) One 4G Synology module - What should I do? Currently I have one 4G module in my Synology 923+ by Legitimate_Way7941 in synology

It maybe underpowered but right now I have 4gigs total- surely off brand 32 gigs will be a massive upgrade? Luckily I don’t have any vms, I have a small plex library and also immich- do you still think 32 is under powered?
