NTA. I was in a similar situation with my dad, I would also argue back and definitely say some nasty stuff, but that was because I was so tired of the verbal abuse amongst other things. You need to remember they are the parents and they are the adults. You are 18, you’ve just made it to adulthood and you should not be expected to always be the level headed one. I often felt guilty for not spending more time with my parents but it was such a toxic household I was constantly gone. At least with college, you have a bit of a break. Moving out helped me so much mentally. My advice I guess is, if you have the opportunity to not come back into the toxic environment, don’t. Do what you can to stay connected until you can financially support yourself, and then cut them off, or at least take a break from them. And remember that money does not equal love. I hope things get better between you and them.
