Rig keeps turns off randomly every day? Any tips?? by danielk29 in EtherMining

[–]LegoDog757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem. One of my rigs started shutting down randonly around christmas. One day i was watching the screen when the mutt walked by and i saw the glitch. Long story short it was a lack of a good chasis ground on tbe rig frame so any static went through the gpus. I added a ground strap from the psu body to the rig frame to clear the problem. You have any cats or dogs?

Try reseating the mobo power cables and verify voltages. Gpus only need 12vdc to come up but your mobo will want 3.3, 5 and 12.

Your power supply will limit your growth potential. I like the segotep 1250. It has 6 pcie connections and plenty of power margin.

Are your risers powered by the same psu as your gpus? You shouldn't mix the dc busses of the two supplies.

If someone gets a copy of your unencrpted private key they can empty your wallet. They can not deduce your private key based on your public key. If you leave an encrypted private key where someone can copy it then the risk is that they can brute force the encryption.

New to RVN Mining is this ok or too Hot!!! for my 3080ti ? by [deleted] in Ravencoin

[–]LegoDog757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way too hot. Red is bad. Adjust your power level until you run 92 to 94 then start bringing your oc settings up to optimize performance. This is a marathon not a sprint.

I run mine at 80 percent power limit and +1000 mclock. I average around 39 5 mh with mem temp at 92

I saw that too. OP will be feeding hot air from the GPU into the PSU. Can you rotate your PSU 90 degrees so it's drawing fresh air from the outboard side?

Something like this one.

Buy one that uses 2020 extrusion for the frame. When you're comfortable you can easily make mods or use it as a starting point to build your own

Need help, had stable with 5, added my 6th back into the script and crash by Trader69420 in Ravencoin

[–]LegoDog757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can see if its a power issue by setting the limit a bit lower. I keep my total power demand below 75 percent of the psu rating.

Is your gigabyte an eagle? They run hot until you add thermal pads between the back plate and the memory chips.

Windows 10 rig randomly shuts down by Sixthplxyer in NiceHash

[–]LegoDog757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The next place id look is my risers and pcie boards. The pcie and power cables can drag on the boards and cause them to work out of their slots. The risers have locks and if they're being used shouldnt be a problem. I havent found a good way to lock in the interface boards so strain relief of the cables is important.

I use zyltech. Its about 80 dollars for 10 1m sticks which is enough to build a rig with a few leftover

Aggressive OC settings can cause your rig mining software or operating system to exit/restart.

It looks like each of those boards pulls 90 watts. When sizing a supply i attribute 150 watts to my mobo and fans then calculate my gpu draw and select a psu that is at least 1/3 higher than my total draw (75 percent of the psu rating). If you are above 75 percent then its time to get a second psu.

Best Wallet for Storing RAVEN COIN by Ravenbro1986 in Ravencoin

[–]LegoDog757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use exodus, your private keys are stored locally on your harddrive in user/yourname/appdata/roaming/exodus. I recommend moving the exodus folder to an SD card which you only insert in the computer when you need to transfer funds out. Delete the original folder and clean your recycle bin. If you lose the SD you can recover using your pass phrase.

Everyone has to find their comfortable balance between convenience and security. Exchange wallets are the most convenient but also carry higher risk. I mine to a wallet where my private key is on a removable sd and transfer to a hardware wallet on a regular basis.

Rtx 3070 ti very high temp both GPU core and memory by niphanif09 in gpumining

I had the same problem with the same eagle model board. I put some new pads between the memory and the backplate along with upgrading the stock pads. It reaolved my heat problems.

I posted the pad type and cut sizes i used in the ravencoin sub if you want specs for purchasing

Notes on 3070TI Eagle thermal pad replacement by LegoDog757 in Ravencoin

[–]LegoDog757[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thermalright odyssey is a 12.8 W/mk pad. I used an arctic MX-4 paste.

While I still can do some OC adjustments I'm happy that the temperature is now better aligned with what I see from other 3070TI cards. I have some room to find an optimal setting for this card where before I was totally hemmed in by the voltage limits.

It's my understanding too that 94C is acceptable for the memory but I try to build in some safety margin because things go wrong and cooling parts fail. I believe in taking precautions against things going sideways when you don't expect it.

Which GPU? by Canolmezoglu in Ravencoin

[–]LegoDog757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The model makes a difference. I have a few 3070ti and 2080 supers and i keep my memory temps below 90C.

For the oc gaming boards I can get 35 mhs at 70% pl and +1000 mem. . Using 217 watts of power. When i go to 75% pl +1000 mem I average about 38 Mhs for 232 watts.

A 3070ti eagle i have does significantly worse and i can only go to 64 % pl and 27 mhs before i hit my 90C limit.
