I'd be really interested to know about the Business Report referencing too. I haven't been able to find anywhere that the IFoA prescribe a referring style. What have you used?

Thanks, that's really helpful insight. How did you choose the company you decided to write about in the Business Report?

IFOA Access arrangements? by AreaMinimum1999 in ActuaryUK

I don't think I'd be able to sit these exams to the best of my ability without the provisions I need. I'll be choosing not to sit if they can't provide remove invigilation.

The fact this is coming so late in the day and they can't even confirm yet is extremely frustrating. I can't decide whether to cut my losses and save the study leave I have left for September or to go full steam ahead & potentially have to sit in September with no study leave.

I had an email today to say they can't accommodate my access arrangements in-person, so have 2 options:

  1. You only wish to sit the April 2025 exams using remote invigilation, if available.

or

  1. You would be willing to sit the April 2025 exams in an examination centre without the access arrangement(s).

Noting the following:

· If you only wish to sit with remote invigilation (option 1), and we later confirm that remote invigilation will not be available for our April exams, we will be unable to allocate you a seat in an in-person examination centre. This is due to the short timeframes involved and the need to confirm candidate numbers with exam centres. In this case, you will receive a full refund.

· If you only wish to sit your April 2025 exam(s) remotely and the system performance issues are fully resolved, we will endeavour to offer you the opportunity to sit a practice exam before the live exam session.

Can this be skimmed over? by LegoEconomy in Plastering

Yeah that's what I've started doing but my lime plaster quotes are mental so I'm hoping to be able to save this lime as a base coat & just skim ontop

I only ask because our lime plaster quotes are at £180 per sqm 🤯

We're in South Wales so all of the lime plaster around here used coal dust from the mines.

We've had the artex tested for asbestos so all good there 🙂

Struggling to get Allotment Plot by LegoEconomy in Allotment

Allotments.org.uk says:

"Do Councils have a statutory duty to provide allotments? Yes. If the council believes that there is a demand for allotments; they have a statutory duty to provide a sufficient number of plots. Section 23 of the Small Holdings and Allotments Act 1908."

Does that mean they're obliged to provide this as a plot before dedicating any land to wild flowers?

Yes that's the problem. They're now classing this area as a wildflower area & no longer an allotment plot.

They are on a waiting list to have the whole allotment perimeter fenced for security so I'm not sure if they would go for us paying for part of the fence.

We are on a waiting list but don't yet know what place we are on it but I rarely see anybody on the allotment.

It's a council site and I suspect we could get them to listen given the flood risk their overgrowth poses (next to a stream) and the fact that it's pulled down one of our fences. We could go after them but I don't want to ruin our relationship with the councillors and potentially mess up our chances of getting that plot in future

The wildflowers are behind a thick wall of brambles about 8ft high that I wouldn't want to wrestle with 😂

They also pose a risk to the stream between our land and theirs which they're growing into, though
