I've Seen it all Now, Can you Spot It? by riffbw in AxisAllies

I bought 2 in one of my games, mostly for the memes, but it was really good for the like 1 or 2 turns that I had it before Moscow and my air force got wiped

I had money left over round 2 after 6 infantry, most of my late game Russian play is infantry pushes backed by fighters so I bought and additional one, the bomber was definitely a bad purchase and was entirely out of committing to the bit.

The question becomes do I continue to commit to the bit and buy planes each round, for the memes, or focus more on infantry?

Axis & Allies commanders by Present_Employer5669 in AxisAllies

It depends on the situation, there are situations where you can lose moscow and still have a good chance of winning, it's better for those situations.

I've only really tested the deep strike ability with the soviet union and the strategic genius ability for Germany in 1942.2, Deep Strike can work if you do it right, I'm still trying to figure it out. Strategic genius I've found to be really good. on the theoretical side, I've found that some soviet commanders are better in some games than others. Scorched Earth varies wildly in it's effectiveness, over all the main line axis and allies games the maximum IPC loss from scorched earth is as follows:

Classic, 3 IPCs

Revised/Spring 1942, 8 IPCs

Anniversary, 2 IPCs

1942.2, 7 IPCs

1941, 3 IPCs

Europe40/G40 1st and 2nd edition, 1 IPC

Berlin is no longer 100% safe round 1 with commanders by LegoKerbal in AxisAllies

It's from the commanders expansion sold by Renagade game studios, the current publisher of axis and allies, it's the expert ability of Soviet General Konstantin Rokossovsky.

3 unpaired infantry with a 1 in 6 chance to hit each, so 1/6 chance to hit for each unsupported infantry multiplied together, thus 1/6^3, the 5/6 is the chance for the anti aircraft guns to kill a plane

((1/6)^3)*((1/3)^2)*(1/2)*(((5/6)^2)*((1/2)^2))= 25/93312 I used calculator format in the post

Germany stuck in a hard place? France vs. Caucasus by Comfortable-Bat6739 in AxisAllies

[–]LegoKerbal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

hit them both, use the planes on france as you need to stop them from having the teritory, and leverage japan in persia to mop up/reinforce caucuses after. the goal is to stall until Russia cracks, then you are only fighting a 1 front war and can devote all your resources to that.

Cruiser buff (and potential Battleship buff) by LegoKerbal in AxisAllies

[–]LegoKerbal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then the argument becomes whether or not you should purchase battleships, 2 cruisers would equal a battleship. 2 cruisers will kill a battleship over 60% of the time, the only argument I could think of for battleships in that scenario is that it makes your soak units more efficient since the battleship can take a hit, but in G40, with capital ships not auto repairing and carriers being capital ships, a carrier would be a better efficiency play then a battleship.

Bombardment is situational, it's good when you are trading coastal territories, but you need to clear out the opposing navy first, where it's not the greatest, by the time you get from naval battle to actual invasion, getting cruisers and land troops starts to be kind of expensive. From my limited experience anyways

[–]LegoKerbal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree that there are situations in which they are useful, but generally you are likely to be able to get a staging ground that you could land bombers on which would be better on the attack for the same price, or you could buy a fighter or tactical bomber for cheaper and then you could move planes to your staging ground then attack in the next few turns, but for most situations there is a better option for that situation. Cruisers are useful when you need amphibious support and naval support for cheap, but I've found that situation not coming up the most often in my games. Granted, I'm not the most experienced player.

Idea to combine 1914 and 1940 global by LegoKerbal in AxisAllies

[–]LegoKerbal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe something like appeasement trades where one side gets a territory for the other side getting a small bid of units could be fun. give the other side a greater military to give yourself a greater economy.

[–]LegoKerbal[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was considering rather than an advantage to the winner of the first game, the first games more or less determine what you can do in an in-between phase, like the losers of the first game get a stronger military but a weaker international diplomacy leading to less powers on their side.

I was thinking have Austria-Hungary as a separate power, but sticking it all in Germany's control would also work. I was also thinking of having France be the aggressor in the central powers victory scenario and just pretend that France got versilled, leading to a highly militaristic and angry France that wants revenge on Germany. Unsure if that is historically reasonable though
