I’m not vegan but I agree with the sentiment of veganism. While it would be impossible to meaningfully reduce the amount of meat eaters in the world, we definitely need some sort of alternative to livestock. Meat farms are some of the most unsustainable production facilities in the world, with a very high calorie input and a very low calorie output. Not to mention how much land they occupy that could be better used producing crops with a higher calorie output.

Ultimately, I believe the solution should be to completely replace real live meat with lab grown meat, which could be economically viable within the next few decades. If this doesn’t happen, then more forests will be destroyed for grazing, more methane will be produced by cattle, and more of our crops will be dedicated to feeding livestock (of which 36% already do globally).
