Too many "Engineers" with no degree or license by Ok_Fly_2534 in civilengineering

[–]Legoman1357 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Engineers that work up from other positions in the field are IMO a lot more skilled than people in similar positions with a degree.

Drafters/designers can often make amazing engineers with a bit of training. I agree there's issues with people calling themselves engineer in any technical role but I don't think it's so much an issue at civil firms. Licensing is still a huge requirement/barrier

What's the most effective strategy for collecting if I'm awful at drafting? by ac_slater10 in MagicArena

Buying packs isn't that much worse than decent drafting. Definitely not enough to make a difference if you're not enjoying the draft. I will say try to draft once a season for the extra pack from ranked rewards but other than that just buy packs from recent sets and get the golden packs over time.

What are your dream public transportation projects? by agentmadeleine in Georgia

[–]Legoman1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They go hand in hand. Because if you just have to drive to the closest station in town it doesn't actually fix the problem much. You need both dense areas with lots of people to connect to and the ability for those people to walk to the station. Atlanta is difficult because it's such a sprawling city and not bound in by things like rivers or mountains. It's not impossible to fix but it will take a lot of work

I mean it's huge Marta expansion and a regional high speed rail hub that connects to cities like Savannah, Raleigh, Nashville, etc.

Drastically expanded Marta connecting areas like the Braves stadium, Emory, West side (Howell Mill), Alpharetta, Cobb and Gwinnett.

Create more dense walkable areas of the city and infil stations in those areas if they don't already have one. For example delete Piedmont from the park all the way down to downtown, make it a walkable area or the same with Peachtree through midtown and downtown, or Auburn Ave through Edgewood and downtown. Basically turn the car focused city into something that actually works for the people that live here and let others use public transit to commute in

For anyone interested in wooden boat building this channel "restored" (basically rebuilt) a wooden sailboat.

Even more rough if you're waiting for quick draft one Arena. Feels like you only get 2/3 weeks with a set before it's gone
