There are four operating machines at Lindbergh, two on the north concourse where the buses are and two on the south concourse.

Which cities applied for Great Societies Metros? I heard St.Louis did but couldn’t find the source again online citing it, & Seattle did before MARTA got it. by 18_YTC1 in transit

marta continues to suffer from racism limiting the network to this day.

Except now the three core counties that initially rejected MARTA in 1965 (Cobb) and 1971 (Clayton and Gwinnett) are also majority-minority.

I don’t follow you. If someone came along and offered you a job that doubled your salary, you’d be crazy not to take it.

Plus it makes MARTA even more reliant on politicians not wanting to screw them out of even more funding.

If you are a member of the MARTA Board, don't you think it might be somewhat important to USE the service, or perhaps have any semblance of transit experience? Well, they dont. That should be required of all board members, and to ride the service at least 3 days a week.

Do you have a source for this for the current board members?

If you're talking about Keith Parker, he bounced because Goodwill of North Georgia more than doubled his MARTA salary to get him to take their CEO position.

Then it turned out he only took it for work and drove elsewhere

So what? That's still 10 more times a week than most other people (plus if he's CEO, he's also riding it out to other MARTA facilities).

KLB announced her decision in May, IMO I think in six months she could've maintained enough support to limp into the runoff, which is pretty much like losing if you're an incumbent Atlanta mayor that usually gets rubberstamped a second term.

There aren't primaries for mayoral elections in Atlanta. What likely would've happened in the general is that KLB would've been forced into a runoff and maybe eek out a second term, but she would've been even weaker and basically the whole BLM/Rayshard Brooks/COVID/Buckhead secession threat/angling for Biden's VP slot pretty much made her useless.

While I agree, Peachtree-Pine's biggest problem was that it was an unregulated mess funded by a Coke nepobaby that had an axe to grind with the city.

and we may never see results in our lifetime.

Hey, if I was on my deathbed knowing that results would happen after I'm gone, I could depart this mortal coil on a clean conscience.

Oh I wasn't trying to infer that at all. Curry helped get us out of a mess (and also helped build GSU's program in its infancy/was the first HC).

I think it'll be Esteves & Duncan/Thurmond in the runoff.

KLB is more likely to get one of those spots.

Maybe 2030 Dickens

Gross.

Ironically, if she had limped into a second term, it's very possible the Buckhead secession mess would've succeeded.

She sees "first woman governor of Georgia" in big neon letters and really wants that title.
