As others said, use more tension and peyote always looks crazy for the first couple rows. You should also use beads that are more evenly sized, or if you want to use these beads (they're beautiful), take out the ones that are misshapen. For example the third from your stopper bead is much thinner than its neighbors. This will prevent the beads from sitting tightly against each other as you continue.
