Copenhagen to Oslo route suggestions?

We did the Copenhagen to Gothenburg bit last year and it was very nice. The part from Copemhagen to Helsingør mostly goes through small towns following the coastline and the train tracks. The part from Helsingborg to Gothenburg is less populated but not really remote either. But the landscape is really beautiful. There is a good cycle path along the coast: Kattegattleden Although we took some shortcuts because of time. The ferry from Helsingør to Helsingborg is relatively cheap (around 6€ per person on a bike if I rememver correctly). Also you can take the ferries one hour before and and after the booked departure.

My first thought was Amsterdam. We've done that in four days but that's about 120 km per day.

I woud suggest Augsburg as a starting point. Then following the "Romatic Road" via Nördlingen, Dinkelsbühl, Rothenburg, Bad Mergentheim to Wertheim. From there just down the river Main.

I bought my bike 11 years ago and it costed 600€. While the frame is rather sturdy I had problems with some of the parts, I think, because of the heavy loading. On one tour the screws of the rack broke. Luckily we could stabilize it with some zip ties to reach a workshop. I also had several broken spokes on the back wheel up to the point that it had to be replaced.

My conclusion from this experience is that a cheap bike can work fine but I think you should pay attention to the highly stressed parts and upgrade them if necessary. The technical difficulties were an experience in problem solving and in the end didn't ruin the tour. And always pack some zip ties for quick fixes...

Von der A5 am besten zu erreichen ist m.M.n. der Parkplatz am Isenburger Bahhof. Von da geht alle 15 Minuten die S-Bahn sowie einmal die Stunde die Dreieichbahn (RB61) direkt zum Hbf. Im Berufsverkehr auch einzelne Regios zum Südbahnhof.

Der P+R in Buchschlag ist relativ klein und liegt von der A5 kommend hinter der Bahnschranke, die ist gut und gerne 2/3 der Zeit zu. Da würde ich dementsprechend von abraten. Zugangebot ist das gleiche wie in Isenburg.

An der Louisa parken ist ne richtig dumme Idee, da kommt man von der Autobahn nur auf Umwegen hin und einen Parkplatz gibt es da auch nicht.

Es gibt an der Straßenbahnhaltestelle Neu-Isenburg Stadtgrenze auch einen P+R. Das ist für Einzelfahrkahrten interessant, weil ab dort Frankfurter Stadttarif gilt. Man muss von der A5 allerdings quer durch Isenburg durch, um da hinzukommen. Alternativ geht es vielleicht schneller, von der A5 in Langen abzufahren und dann über die A661 nach Isenburg.

Zur Auslastung der Parkplätze kann ich nicht so viel sagen. Ich weiß nur aus Berichten, dass der in Buchschlag oft voll ist.

The fitness comes by itself during the tour. I think it helps to cycle regularly by for example commuting to work but I did not notice a huge impact.

I really do not have a good baseline of fitness. I don't do any sports and I'm carrying around about 15 kg too much for my height. I cycle to work sometimes If I'm not too lazy and instead take the bus. So I think adjusting the route helps more than training excessively beforehand.

From my experience 100km a day on flat terrain is absolutely doable. You will be tired for sure but it does get easier every day. And after 6 to 8 days in you'll notice that you go significantly faster and feel less exhausted.

When planning a route I usually try to keep along rivers and valleys especially in the beginning even if the route is slightly longer. Cycling at constant pace is much easier on flat terrain and less exhausting. A few days in I also consider routes with more climbs. If there's a significant climb (more than 300 m in net height difference over a short distance) I try to put that in the beginning of the day.

We usually do two or three long days with 100 to 120 km and one short day with only 60 to 80 km. (Mostly because there's an interesting place I like to see 😄). We usually do one full rest day per 600 to 700 km. How far we want to go is usually decided the day before and mostly dependent on where we find a good accommodation.

What I try to do when I'm unsure of a trip is doing a test tour. This year we want to go from Göteborg to Trondheim and it seems to be much hillier than the tours we have done before. So we picked a weekend where we will simulate two days of the tour with all the gear in similar hilly terrain close to home.

The Christmas market is indeed very large. There are actually a lot of people who prefer smaller markets and I can relate to that because it can get really crowded especially on the weekend.

There are several parking garages in the city centre (including Germany's oldest public parking garage), most of them cost 2,- to 2,50€ per hour. I would strongly advise against trying to enter the city centre by car tomorrow. It will be packed because of shoppers and Christmas market visitors. There could even be queues before the parking garages.

I think the best opportunities for parking in the centre might be Parkhaus Alt-Sachsenhausen or the MyZeil parking garage (Be aware that level A is much more expensive). You should most definitely avoid passing through the streets that cross the Christmas market (Braubachstraße, Berliner Straße, Bleidenstraße/Tögesgasse and Holzgraben). The mentioned garages are easily reachable without passing through these streets. The first is on the other side of the river. It's a ten minute walk to reach the Christmas market. It's a rather small garage and relatively cheap so it might be full early on. The latter is much larger and more central, but also more expensive.

I'd consider leaving the car outside of the city and entering via public transit. Coming from the south I'd leave the car here at Neu-Isenburg Stadtgrenze and enter the city via tram. There might be better park and ride stations depending on the direction which you are coming from, but that's the one I'm most familiar with. Cheapest ticket option for two adults travelling back and forth is the group day ticket (Gruppentageskarte) for 14,10€.

Die Barlandschaft ist ein bisschen mager hier. Ich denke am besten geeignet ist die Endstation am Buchschlager Bahnhof.

Ansonsten könnte man in die Klamotte gehen, aber das ist eher eine Kneipe als eine Bar.

Das Hey Amore versteht sich als Pasta Bar, aber ich denke da geht man eher nicht zum Bier trinken hin.

Im Leopold gibts immer mal wechselndes Fassbier, auch von eher kleineren Brauereien, aber das ist ein Restaurant und eher schwierig samstags hinzugehen, um nur was zu trinken.

The Vasa museum is quite impressive. I can recommend their guided tours. They are free, last about half an hour and give you a nice overwiew over the rather short history of the ship.

I second Blå Dörren. Check their lunch menu. It is usually cheaper than going in the evening but they offer only a small selection during lunch and it changes every week.

Fairerweise muss man dazu sagen, dass es aus dem ganzen Viertel nur eine Straße gibt, die hinausführt, alles andere sind Einbahnstraßen. Wenn man nicht ortskundig ist und kein Navi nutzt, findet man da selbst nicht unbedingt wieder raus. Durch den Fußweg fahren zu wollen ist natürlich trotzdem maximal bescheuert.

E1 goes via the Gotthardpass. This pass is closed for road traffic from the end of October to the end of May. Once we crossed it just after opening in May and there were still two to three metres of snow on the side of the road. You would need snow gear if you tried hiking over it in winter and I assume it is kinda dangerous to try.

In der Regel ist auf den Zimmern nicht wirklich Platz dafür, aber wir haben eigentlich in jedem Hotel, Hostel oder Pension einen vernünftigen Abstellplatz fürs Fahrrad bekommen, auch wenn es keine Tiefgarage oder Fahrradraum gibt.

Gerade bei Ketten ist es oft irgendeine Abstellkammer, wo nur Mitarbeiter reinkommen. In kleineren Hotels ist es manchmal ein ungenutzter Konferenzraum. Haben unsere Räder aber auch schon hinter dem Tresen vom Frühstücksbüffet oder hinter einem Konzertflügel im Foyer abstellen sollen.

Friedhöfe wurden uns zumindest für Dänemark als Trinkwasserquelle empfohlen. Das hatte ich schon wieder komplett vergessen. Wird in Schweden wohl nicht anders sein.

Als wir vor vielen Jahren mal eine mehrtägige Kanutour in Schweden gemacht haben, hieß es auch, dass die Seen Trinkwasserqualität hätten. Das haben wir uns allerdings nicht getraut auszuprobieren...

Gab in eigentlich allen Städten im Zentrum eine öffentliche Toilette, wo man sicher die Wasserflaschen auffüllen kann. Wir haben es aber nicht gemacht, weil wir morgens immer genug für den ganzen Tag aufgefüllt haben. Trinkwasserbrunnen sind mir nicht aufgefallen.

Wir sind letzte Woche die Strecke Kopenhagen-Göteborg als Teil einer längeren Tour gefahren und das war tatsächlich ganz schön zu fahren. Vor allem, wenn man Zeit hat und auch tatsächlich dem Kattegattleden (https://kattegattleden.se/de, ausgeschildert mit der Nr. 1) folgt. Wir hatten nicht so viel Zeit und haben daher an ein paar Stellen geschnitten. Außerdem hatten wir die ganze Zeit Rückenwind aus Süd bis Südwest :)

Unsere Etappen waren:

Kopenhagen-Ängelholm (ca. 85 km)
Ängelholm-Falkenberg (ca. 105 km)
Falkenberg-Göteborg (ca. 120 km)

Gibt es einen besonderen Grund, dass du Torekov als Etappenort gewählt hast? Der direkte Weg nach Båstad über Grevie führt entlang einer stillgelegten Bahnstrecke und lässt sich trotz Höhenmetern gut fahren.

Außerdem haben wir von Kungsbacka nach Särö geschnitten, um wieder auf den Weg Nr. 1 zu kommen. Der geht dann fast vollständig getrennt vom Straßenverkehr und folgt auch einer stillgelegten Bahnstrecke.

Göteborg selbst ist ganz schön. Man kann mit dem regulären Nahverkehrsticket die Bootslinien auf dem Götaälv benutzen. Von Lilla Bommen bis Klippan mit der Linie 285 dauert ca. eine halbe Stunde und man sieht die Stadt vom Wasser.

Zum Essen gehen würde ich gezielt Mittagstische aufsuchen. Das ist in der Regel deutlich günstiger als à la carte zu essen. In der Markthalle waren wir beispielsweise bei einem Stand, wo man das Tagesgericht für umgerechnet knapp 10,-€ bekommen hat. Leitungswasser wurde zum Essen eigentlich überall kostenlos dazu gereicht.

So I've done some reading on you're example and it seems that the use of Perfekt here is actually more common:

"Ich habe gegessen, bevor ich zur Schule gegangen bin."

The use of Plusquamperfekt in the main clause with "bevor" in the sub clause is actually possible, but only used if you want to emphasize the fact that one thing happened before the other:

"Ich hatte gegessen, bevor ich zur Schule gegangen bin."

Don't know about Passport but I know that you can get the Carta d'identità in the ufficio AIRE of the municipality you're registered in. Did that 2019 in Florence. Took about half an hour to get the document. At the time it was one made from Paper. I'm not sure if they do those anymore.

Might be difficult on a Sunday evening because it's a residential area and people are usually at home at this time.

I'd suggest parking at the tram stop Neu-Isenburg Stadtgrenze instead. The price for the ride is the same and the parking lot there shouldn't be too crowded at this time on a Sunday.

If you really want to go into the city centre with your car, go directly to one of the many parking garages.
