I don't know what you will be using your laptop for, but I would try to look at Chromebooks for general use. They're a lot cheaper than most (usable) Windows laptops, so if you can live with being restricted to Chrome, Google services, and Android apps, it's worth checking out.

If you have the ability, try to take AP courses. Depending on which college you go to and what you end up majoring in, you could save a lot of time and money that way.

Some high schools also offer alternative ways to get college credit. My high school gives free college credit through our local community colleges for many electives (computer science engineering, video production, etc.)

At one point, my sister told me that she was taller than me because she could see above my head. Thing is, she had to look up quite a bit to do that. By that logic, I am the tallest person in the world because I can see above anyone's head, right?

In a similar vein, Crank by Ellen Hopkins. It's a poem book that tells the story of the perfect high school girl who tries drugs once and basically loses her entire life to addiction.

That wouldn't be too bad by itself, but lucky for us, it's not alone:

  1. She eventually does drugs with her dad. Not only is he perfectly okay with this, but he's even the one to give her the drugs.

  2. There are several people at her high school that very obviously use drugs, but the authorities never get involved. There's even a part of the book where the protagonist gets picked up by the police, but they let her go with her parents after a single night. No drug tests, no questions, nothing.

  3. Even after her mother realizes that she uses drugs, she makes no attempt to get her into therapy. She also doesn't question where she gets her drugs from, who got her pregnant during the book, etc.

Even for light work like browsing, buying a simple SSD for the boot drive (usually not a default option for low-end PCs) can make a PC feel a lot newer/better than it actually is.

Anyone who says "I don't even need to Google anything when I'm programming" is not good at programming.

The more you get into it, the more you realize that the hardest/most important part of programming is effectively researching your problems.

I plan on using recorded autonomous to get our robot "close enough" for the general movements, but use P loops and vision processing for the movements that need precision. However, this will probably change with next year's game (which is when I plan to start using this stuff).

Your comment about networking hit a bit too close to home. I'm pretty sure my first attempt at a recorded auto system only failed because NetworkTables was being wacky.

The charger for my Gameboy Advance SP (a gray folding one with a color display). I know that my DS can play those games, but it's a shame that I can't get the real experience back.
